    Good morning!

So I had a bit too much fun in the snow and sort of crunched my rear bumper a bit. Not terrible but I broke parts 15 and 9 below enough that I need to replace them. I already ordered the parts and actually order a the pair (15 and 16) in black to make it easier and it was the same price as getting one chrome one....

So my question is, other than replacing parts 15 and 16 which both look pretty easy from a few videos I have seen, I haven't seen anybody replace or take off part number 9....

Does anyone out there have any tips/video links/tutorials on how to remove and replace those pieces?

I have the parts arriving Thursday, so any help between now and then to get myself prepped would be greatly appreciated!!

    Thanks guys! :fingerscrossed:

Personally, I would try you tube. That has helped me do several repair projects on at least 3 different vehicles. Just don't necessarily use the first one you come across. I watch a few first and pick the best to use in my opinion.

Thanks!! Yea so far i have seen a lot of videos of people pulling the caps themselves off, but no one has taken the plastic/poly supports off.

    I appreciate your help.

This is what I did, but I wish I could have retained the BSM feature. May go back to the flimsy stock stuff one day.

I think the stock bumper is a poor design that will cost money long term.

I went “buy once / cry once” and got an RCI

I dragged the right side of mine in a creek bed and broke a bunch of stuff. I replaced 1 backing sonar, parts 1, 9 & 13. I still need to replace the step pad but what I’ve done works until I replace it with a steel bumper. All parts except the sonar were sourced from Tacoma World for pretty cheap. I might have $150 in the repairs. Sonar is a Chinese knock off from Amazon that works perfectly for $17.

Take your time and be very careful with all the clips. The step pad has a bunch that are kinda hidden you’ll need to push through from the bottom.

The end caps have 2 “button” style clips on each side and I think 3 on the bottom (I believe they’re part 12 on the diagram). The bottoms are easy, the 2 on the sides are kinda hidden. Look between the fender and bumper and you’ll see them hidden in there right at the edge. I’ll see if I can get you a picture in a bit.

Again, take your time and don’t do a bunch of prying and pulling. It’s not that difficult if you go slow and pay attention.

Oh great, another mod that I now have to have that I didn’t know I needed. That looks sharp as heck! Not asking how much.

My parts came in today (ordered yesterday) and I will start on the repair tonight! Luckily I don't have any sensors or BSM stuff back there to worry about. The Step pad is a little messed up, but i can wait on that.

Thanks again guys for your help.

Has anyone actually replaced the Bumper cover support rail (right or left) successfully? Does this require disassembling the entire bumper just to replace the right or left components?
