Need help trying to remove the chrome exhaust tip off my truck. Had my truck for about 5+ years now. Managed to remove the bolt/hose clamp off but the exhaust it’s still stuck on there. Tried wd40 with no luck. Years of dirt, salt or whatever has it really stuck on there. Might have to try a torch or something. Any advice would be appreciated.

WD40 and torch heat are your friend. Those always work. Try those.

I’d do it after a nice long drive in the NM heat, with gloves of course.

If you get it REALLY hot, like cat converter hot, anti seize around the seam will get drawn in and help.

penetrating oil, let it soak in. Apply heat to help the oil migrate into the joint. A heat gun should be plenty.

Trust me no hummer. You will either damage the exhaust or your tool. Been there....done that.

Soak the slits and back edge with penetrating fluid. Not WD40. Allow to baste overnight.

Put a pipe wrench on that same area, mounted so you can pull down on the wrench handle to get the bite.

Hit the wrench handle with your purse.

    Should come right off. :D

This is the best way except I would use a propane and get it hot. Cool it fast and heat it again, repeat till comes off.

I had to use a small pry bar to spread it apart a bit at the back (where the clamp goes around) and shot some penetrating oil in there, then twisted it back and forth while pulling on it. It scratched up the pipe so I shot it with some black spray paint afterwards and looks good now.

There is a conical seat that you have to tap out to take it off. Comes off easily with no ancillary damages if done correctly.

If I remember correctly you want to hammer those flanges on the spacers toward the center of the truck while pulling the tip out. If you pull them both out the spacer will get tighter as it is pulled over the flare on the exhaust. Some lubricant and twisting helps it come off.

Unfortunately most of those videos just skip the removal part and just show the installation.
