HELP REMOVING CV AXLE

    I need help figuring out how to remove my cv axle. I do not have a slide hamer but i was told it would come out without one so i tried getting it off and the half shaft seperated right after the back boot and i cant get the rest of it out. what is holding it in?

    A bunch a cool stickers, a bada ass MetalMiller Tx Longhorns grill emblem painted Hemi Orange, JBA long tube headers with o2 sims, Diff breather mod, Red LED interior lights, Fancy head unit that plays ipod n movies, Also DIY install factory stuff like, factory cruise control, factory intermittent wipers, OME nitro struts with 886x springs and toy tec top plate, JBA high caster UCA's for better alignmnet and dey beefier too, Old Man Emu Dakar leaf springs in da rear with the gear, U bolt flipper, Ivan Stewart TRD rims with 33" K Bro 2's, some bad ass weather tech floor liners so I don't muck up my interior, an ATO shackle flipper for mo travel in da rear wit the gear, also super shiny Fox 2.0 shocks back there too, all sorts of steal armor for bouncing off of the rocks like demello sliders, AP front skid, trans skid, n transfer skid, demello gas tank skid, and a tough as nails ARB bumper with warn 8k winch, I'm sure there's more
    Get you a flat head screw driver and a pry bar. Pry the dust shield between the cv and the diff toward the diff to get it out of the way. Wedge the screw driver between the cv and the diff up at the top. Use the pry bar at the bottom to pry the cv out of the diff. You are fighting against a little c clip on the shaft. Once it pops, the shaft will slide right out. Good luck

    Get some wire, make tight loop around that piece, leave some slack and then loop the other end around the end of a small sledge, give her a good pop.

    Or a pry bar works too if you're careful.

    If you haven't at least lowered the oil in the case, you will have a mess, as oil will run out where the shaft was.

    ive been trying this with no luck so far. hopefully it gives eventually im not sure what else to do.

    now all i have to do is get the new one in there tomorrow. Is there a certain method to putting one in or do you just sorta find where the c-clip lines up and slam it in??

    the c clip will compress, just got to line up the splines and push it in, maybe a rubber mallet to help you tap it in. you'll know when it snaps into its groove (at least this is how it is on 4x4 quads, haven't had the pleasure of pulling mine out of my truck yet)

    Read that thread I linked.

    The really short answer is that you line up the splines, set a prybar against the grooves in the CV axle mount, and give it a "love tap" with a 4 lb engineers hammer.

    If the splines aren't lined up you can hammer until the cows come home and all you'll do is flatten the splines rather than drive it home.

    Super cherry n some champion stuff on the side
    Damn, some frankenstien shit going on. I use a screw driver or a pry bar. Put the end in the little groove on the case of the shaft, with dead blow or regular hammer, tap lightly on case to pop out, be careful cuz case might come flying out.

    i got it in no problem just lined it up and tapped the end a few time with a rubber mallet. thanks for the help guys i appreciate it!
