I have an 09 and a couple years ago mine was loose too. Took me awhile but I found a small tightening screw that required an allen wrench, tightened it right up. Can’t remember if I had to remove anything or not. I’ll try to check it out later and provide a little better info.

I just went out and checked mine. It was a little loose so I tightened it. You need a 7/64 allen wrench, yes I’m surprised it’s not a metric. The little adjustment screw is behind the mirror where the swivel part of the mirror attaches to the tiny frame that holds it. (Don’t know if that makes sense)Look up behind the mirror and you’ll see it.

I keep an allen wrench in the truck for my mirror specifically. Drives me nuts. Thought about putting some threadlocker on it but I also might want to do the relocation bit later.

when mine fell off i bought a mirror off of Amazon that has a suction up. i'm able to position it higher up on the window from where the factory mirror was positioned. this has allowed a clearer front field of view and i can still see out the rear just fine. the suction cup has stayed firmly in place in heat and cold.

Hello...I took the single black screw out of the back side of the rearview mirror before understanding that I couldn't detach the mirror portion from the ballcatch in that manner. Instead I had to removethe whole piece by removing dome light lens, 3 screws and a connector switch. But...now for the life of me that one, singular screw that goes in the back is giving me the most difficult time just catching the thread and going back into its little home. I cant take apart the mirror any further b/c it seems to have a plastic "seem" and is somehow like enclosed after assembly in the factory or manufacturing process....so I can't see if I am missing a plate of sorts that could have slid out from between or anything at all. I can't hear anything inside the enclosed area either. Any help before I just find a Taco graveyard and snag a whole assembly and be finished, is much appreciated!

Step 1, dig through a garage with 100 years, 3 generations worth of hoarders stuff to find a 7/64 allen wrench, SUCCESS!! Step 2, looking for where to stick it in my mirror, no success.

Mine flopped down this week sitting in the hot sun. Readjusted to find it very loose. I have what I'm going to call a 3 part rear view mirror. Part 1 glues to the windshield. Part 2 is a L shaped piece that goes into part 1 with a swivel that doesn't move and another swivel that goes in the mirror itself, which I'm calling part 3. Nowhere do I see any place to stick the allen wrench in.

Any help how to tighten it would be appreciated.

I didn't look under or inside the little tilt handle thing, which I can see has never been cleaned except for when I touched it yesterday when looking. I don't want to have to replace it. I suppose I could wrap 50 rubber bands around the back to hopefully hold it in place.

    Still hoping for help.

I looked a third time all over, inside where the lever is with it flipped both ways, holding it half way, no luck. I'm guessing there is no adjustment for when this part becomes loose.

Maybe pop it off and cut a piece of cellophane from a cigarette pack as a shim .

I considered it, but don't want to pop it off and not be able to get it back on.

I bet you could use something tacky and work it into the knuckle if you're desperate. Like a gasket maker that never hardens.

Reviving this old thread, mine has always been loose, got fed up, popped the mirror off the swivel, wrapped a gum wrapper around the ball and shoved it back on. Super tight now.

My rear view mirror has been loose for quite some time now, but this simple fix was all that was needed.

Heyyy let's go I'm glad it helped somome else. Been a while since I did this and eventually I did need to use another gum wrapper but it stays tight for the most part.
