I just recently purchased a 1995 tacoma, more like 1995.5 (the year they changed styles) its a 2.7 manual 4x4 with Manual locking hubs. I just replaced the front drivers side wheel bearing today, had it pressed in with machine etc etc however when taking the components off to get to the wheel bearing a bunch of needle bearings fell out and there was half of the sleeve all rusted away. What is this bearing called in order for me to order and replace? It sits inside the sleeve and the driveshaft goes into this ?? Bearing. Heres pics of the sleeve and the bearing and where the bearing is supposed to go. Im a newbie so please be nice lol! I called toyota parts and they had no idea, i took it into oreilys napa and showed them the part with no idea. So please someone with tacoma experience please help me out. My truck is sitting on the jack until i replace this bearing. Apparently it was bad for a long time and was the probable cause to my wheel bearing going out because there is still slack between driveshaft and sleeve with the new good wheel bearing on. Thanks for any help!

go here and put in your vin number to find the bearing part number http://www.toyodiy.com/parts/q.html

but be aware the words toyota uses to describe some part names makes them not easy to find

Contact ECGS and see if they make a clamshell bushing replacement istead of the Needle Bearing

just because some minimum wage dufus behind the parts counter cant find it doesn't mean anything, always ask for a manager and make sure they show you a parts picture that shows the exact part location and all parts connected to it, so you need to go back and look at the pictures yourself with someone like a manager to help you.

this should be the part you need

So for anyone who ever has this problem in the future i have found the answer. I talked to toyota and they sent parts diagram for my truck via my vin. looked at the parts diagram(which my bearing was not in) talked to mechanic and found out that the bearing i need Only comes with a new hub, which explains why no one at any parts dealer or online could find my bearing. I called 2 other toyota dealerships to confirm this and spoke with a local mechanic, all with the same answer, u need a new hub. toyota wanted $250 for a new hub(which obviously is above full price) and since i had already pressed in the new wheel bearing, i would have to get a new wheel bearing as well, which was $99 at Oreilys(yes i could have ordered one online for cheaper but the convenience of getting one that day at oreilys was the route i took). Now about my mysterious bearing, Lucky i found off road solutions and they just happened to sell the bearing i needed for my manual lockout hub for only $15. it was called the inner hub bearing. Doing research i still have only found ors to have this bearing sold separately from hub. I contacted mike at ors and he was extremely helpful and shipped my bearing right away. Thank you all for your time and help! What bs toyota doesnt make an aftermarket bearing and makes u have to replace the whole dang hub for a lousy $15 bearing, what a scam! Other than that i am very pleased with my tacoma!

you sure the new Toyota hub doesn't come with the new bearing and seals already pressed in it? it was my understanding that they came as a "complete" assembly, and that's why the price was so high.

im glad you found a cheap bearing replacement for it and I agree, its silly for Toyota not to offer that part but maybe they just assume if it fails it would ruin the hub where it mounts making a replacement part unnecessary in their view
