Horn hasnt been working for a bit and finally looked into it and its not cheap to replace. Anyone here had this issue and how did you attack it, discount parts, eBay, etc.?

    thanks in advance

I just replaced mine with a 10$ clock spring on eBay. Cheap shitty part but it works lol has a slight single click sound when turning.

    Install took 15 mins

I got one for 130 plus shipping from Toyota scion Colorado springs. Easy job for sure just take your time. If mine goes again I will try a cheapo Chinese one since its such an easy job.

There is recall for this. You should be able to get it done for free.

The way I looked was by searching Toyota Recalls. Went to website and then typed in the VIV which said there are no pending recalls. If it is a recall how do you go about getting it done? I got a letter and was online for my leaf springs....

    thanks

It may be a TSB for your truck as opposed to full recall. Call a few dealerships, tell them your problem, that you've heard there is a recall/TSB for clock spring extended out to 2012's. If they say it doesn't apply to your truck ask them why and move to the next one. If say 3-4 say nope then it probably doesn't apply. Don't give up after one is my point.

Okay this qualifies for the dumbest question of the day. I bought a cruise control for my truck, it didn't have one and occasionally I take long trips. I took it to a local shade tree mechanic to install, he said it couldn't cause the clock spring was missing. I don't know shit about clock springs but after reading this it seems that it should be there. Does every truck have one or was the dude blowing smoke

If the horn works, you have a clock spring.

If you dont have clock spring i don't think your airbag would work.

    You have a clock spring

Also NO the tsb doesn’t apply if you have the 16 pin clock spring you are not covered under the TSB.

I have a 2008 w just and it is not covered.
