Soo on my friend 03 tacoma single cab the door handle on the outside had cracked right in the middle vertically. Does anyone sugget any type of glue or epoxy to fix it? So the glue/epoxy will hold to the plastic door handle? Thanks

It cracked on the inside of the handle where the 2 sides meet.

I had the drivers and then passenger side break on my 01. I tried the JB weld and epoxy and a couple other stuff. The best lasted for a few weeks. Finally went and got both sides, aftermarket from the Toyota recycler.

I don't have a how-to but before I did mine, I got a couple extra clips. The funky ones where the rod goes in at a the L then the straight part of the rod snaps in. Broke my original clips getting them out without being gentle. If I remember right, you need little fingers. It's kind of a pain going at it with no instruction.

Those plastic clips hinge away from rods. Rods are bent at 90 degrees. After you unclip, pop rod out. What does your handle look like? Is it crome?

You want to unscrew the handle first, that way it has room to move around to get the rods unclipped and out

The kind made for plastic. But it will just break again, that is why we suggested to just replace it and be done

Eventually, it will break enough to be useless. Replace it.

X2.... I think I paid around $34 each side for aftermarket handles and it took a couple hours to do both for me. Let me paint a bit so pleasant picture:

You run to get in to your car because it's raining, snowing, being chased by a pack of killer bees, etc. You do to pull up on the handle and it cracks inside. Then your handle just flips up abs down freely and you can't get in on that side. If both break you've got quite the predicament. Good luck on your replacement. Maybe do a how-to post on replacing them if you're up for it.

You can buy a pair of handles off of ebay for around $25. Once you get the door panel off, it is two 10mm bolts holding the handle in the door. Then you pop the clips loose on the rods and pull the rods out of the handle. The handle should then slide up slightly and the bottom will come out, then while pulling gently outwards slide the handle down and it will come right out. It sounds complicated but once you see it, you will understand. I can't help with getting the door panel off because I've never done it. I had to change the handles on my half doors, so they didn't have panels when I bought the doors.

For future reference, try Amazon. Not OEM quality, but great prices. I've been finding a lot of parts there lately.
