So last night I was driving back from work and about and hour in my adaptive cruise control stopped working. I found some other post on this and assume it’s due to the rain. I’ll hit it with rain-x and hopefully that’ll help. Today though I had the same issue, but the error that popped up said” front camera not working”. I don’t have a front camera, I didn’t even know it was an option on 2019 sport models. My question is, should I be worried about the weird error and is it possible to add a OEM Tacoma front camera. I know there are a few aftermarket cams out there, but a camera without any extra hardware would be great.

I get this error every once in awhile. It usually has to do with water getting on the sensor (not the cover, but the actual sensor behind the grill). You can cover the sensor with foam like they did with the TSS recall awhile back.

I had that little foam recall thing on top of my sensor but it was pretty pathetic in it's coverage of the sensor component. I went one step further and placed some of that waterproof Gorilla tape over the foam piece, basically sealing the entire assembly from above and the sides, making so that very little water (if any) can get to the sensor. I can't say that this is the reason, but I have had zero issues with my TSS regardless of weather conditions.

I believe they all have a foward facing camera for the safety functions, part of the assembly behind the rear view mirror...

Awesome thanks for the replies. I saw something about a recall but didn’t know what it involved. I’ll check out the foam gorilla tape fix mentioned above

When in rain or snow you can hold the cruise control on button for 5 seconds to turn off adaptive cruise and go back to traditional cruise. But cruise control in heavy rain or snow isn't usually recommended.
