I just got my second Tacoma, a 2012 double cab TRD Sport. I love it so far. When you first turn it on, the radio display and back up camera work fine. When it starts to get warmed by the sun, the screen goes fuzzy and eventually looks like an old tv tuned to a distant station. Basically just oscillating snow. The radio still works, you just can't see the screen. Previous owner says it will work all winter with no issues. What do you think? Cold solder joint? Bad component inside?

They have a small cooling fan on the side, that would be the first thing that comes to mind to check.

So the fan is inside the metal radio case?

It's on the side, you can see it without taking the radio apart but if it's bad I believe you would have to take it apart to change it.
