    Hey guys,

I installed some black OME headlights on my tacoma several months ago and the passenger side headlight started collecting condensation recently. Does anybody know how to fix this?

OEM headlights or aftermarket "OEM" headlights?

Usually any aftermarket headlights and tail lights are junk and leak

My stock headlight (passenger side) recently started to have water form on the inside... repeats daily... Been driving with headlights on all day to dry it out. My truck is a 2010, bought it new, and this hasn't happened before... Nothing changed in the headlight, not even bulbs yet.

Had my truck since it was new (Dec. 2009)... Has 56,000 miles on it. No off-roading for several months... no rain, only cooler nights... and only my passenger side light.

Best bet is to take the lens off like you are doing a BHLM to clean it then reinstall and silicone around the entire headlight. Sounds like there's a small break in the seal.

Black Headlight Mod.. taking apart your headlight to paint the inside black (or the color of your choosing). There a big thread on it. People do this with the HID conversion.

Thank you... then someone should know if there is or isn't a vent into the headlight housing... if there is, then a clogged vent would not let the moisture evaporate out.

If you have HID's they will heat up the cold air and create condensation, unless you fully get rid of it it will keep coming back.
I had the same problem after installing beamer HID's. I took the bulbs out and used a small hair dryer to dry them out good and sealed the top, where the headlight meets the frame, as I noticed thats where water was building up and sitting. I have not had issues since except rare ocasion when its a misty out and then freezes, but even having them on for a couple minutes gets rid of that.
    Hope this helps.
I live in the yukon and the temp has been getting down to -10 and they are ok still.

I don't think there is a vent in the OEM housing. I read somewhere some guys would just drill a small vent hole but be wary of water leaks

Stock 2010 Tacoma halogen headlights... no HID there... But, in my off road lamps, yes... and the HIDs stay COOL compared to halogen!

Found a black rubber cap (with a white round sticker) covering a hole into the back of the headlamp housing. Inside the rubber cap is a filter... I could not detect any clog, dirt or reason why the one lamp gets filled with condensation... but I removed the plug and will check the light tomorrow.

I would like to hear from any Toyota/ Headlight expert about the rubber cap vent cover and why after almost 4 years just one of my headlight housings is building up condensation in it. How do I dry it out, other than running with my high beams on to dry it (and it builds up moisture again. Just one light..).???

Mine randomly got some water in it last week also. They had been perfectly dry before then, no idea how water got in other than the weather has been shifting between warm and cold almost daily. I removed the rubber bulb boot during a dry week and the moisture went away after a few days. I put the bulb boot back on and it's been fine ever since.

I did the BHLM about 2 months ago. All was fine and then one day suddenly my pass side had moisture...driver side is still fine. Probably my fault in resealing the housing but just thought I'd throw in my experience with this.

Thank you for the replies... I wouldn't call it a defective housing since for nearly 4 years it didn't do this. Has to be a venting problem. The water gets in there from the air, since air contains water vapor... When a glass of ice water gets wet on the outside, it isn't the glass leaking... ;)

I have a 2010 Tacoma double cab truck. The drivers side headlight lens is leaking water/condensation, Is this covered under the platinum extended warranty?
    Thanks,Steve
