Hey yall I recently got some aftermarket headlights, I went and bought GE silicone and went around the seals thoroughly. I even put on 2 coats of it, ive been reading and saw several posts that said to drill a small hole in the bottom of the headlights with a very small bit. this is the second time ive had this problem with aftermarket and I'm running out of options....I really don't want to take the headlight out again.

    Leak at the dust boot?

If you’re double sealed at the seams, I’d stop checking them as leak areas.

Agree with James, I downgraded to set of LED Bulbs and had to tear the dust boot just a bit. 2 days later condensation in the Headlamps. To the garbage out bought new dust boots and gone

the condensation looks to be at the bottom, I checked the dust boots as well theyre on perfectly, the only thing ive seen online to do is to either take them apart...which is a no go, or drill a small hole at the bottom to act as a vent hole. considering most headlight have vents on the back. these do not

When is condensation not at the bottom? Water heavier than air.

You can try a hole, I guess. I don’t think it’s as perfectly sealed as you think (obviously). My guess is the dust boot directly or indirectly (it isn’t sealing properly due to bulb choice or design).

I would honestly pay the extra money for some lights from a reputable builder. Stay away from these Fleabay or Amazon junk sets.

they weren't fogged up until I drove down the road with the headlights on, my guess is my hid heated up the inside of the headlight and there was no where for the cold air to escape so it created condensation, I'm no scientist tho lol

DEPO is by far the more credible option.

    Neither are OEM tight though.

Not sure. You could also try some sort of desiccant pouches

They’d still fog. Those absorb moisture, not remove it.

the main question is, would drilling a tiny hole to act as a vent help? if it makes it worst I can always reseal the hole itself especially if I make it small enough that water/rain cannot enter but moisture can escape?

if moisture can enter, water and rain can too.

I just cant understand how they fog even with the factory sealant plus 2 coats of silicone, and the dust boots are on securely, what sucks is like I said this is my second set that has fogged up
