4208B87D-8234-4D04-8CB0-B80558F79C77.jpg Hello everyone! I’m new here to the forum and just forums in general. I’ve had my 2019 Tacoma Sport since October ‘19 and I absolutely love it. I come from a family of Tacoma owners and finally got my first one.

So to get right to it I was wondering if anyone on here has a headache rack on their third gen Tacoma? I’ve found some by just googling but they weren’t really what I was looking for, they seemed flat out cheap. I’m looking for something that has the top “horns”, if you will, and a square cut out for the “beer grabbin” window in the back. Any pointers are greatly appreciated! Thanks so much.

never seen a good one for the Tacomas but i was looking like 3 years ago, so...

after i got frustrated by the choices i asked my FIL who has the super HD version on his 3500 dually. it's got the horns, and his has some custom louvers as well. he has his custom made for all his trucks at a shop that deals with the big rigs. so that was the only option i found then. custom is nice but so expensive, and not sure his heavy version would be suitable. the shop he used build these things with custom tool boxes and all that if that's a consideration.

and then i did a quick one off search and saw this:

I’m thinking something more in this neighborhood. I do like yours though! It’s really slick.

I’m thinking I am going to have to go with custom. Maybe I can have some lights put in there!

that is definitely what i would do. FIL's rack also has built in brake and cargo and bed lights, integrates into the tool box and bed, and the whole setup is painted to look a perfect factory install. wish i had some pics, it's super nice, nicest I've ever seen.

i actually did find a pic but it's from his previous truck without all the bells & whistles, but same idea, same shop. he just went lux on the latest with the lights and louvers.

This is my Discount Racks Apex adjustable headache rack. Many here suggested the Backracks but I thought the triangulated supports on the Apex would make it sturdier. I had the side expanded metal mesh pieces cut back to fit the slider. Then the whole thing was welded together. And I Fluid Filmed the crap out of the tube insides.

I've noticed my top highway mileage has decreased slightly since I put it on. I think maybe because of interrupted airflow (it's probably only 30 lbs or so) since there are different condensation patterns on the rear windscreen at speed now on rainy days. Anyhow, I like it.
