I'm looking for a head unit with a sim slot.

I know there are cheap no name head units with sim slots but I don't trust them with basic security. I sort of expect they would come with malware pre installed.

Are there any reputable brands with a sim slot?

Joying seems to be the most common. I’m sure some googling could find you people who have tested them for foreign IPs or malware.

With that being said, there’s always a risk when it comes to anything in china

I'd sooner get a headunit with wireless carplay/android auto.

The quality of the sim units are poor. But if you need full app suite on a big screen a Joying is probably the best route.

I’d personally opt for an iPad mini with the cellular connection, and then the Dashtop Multi Mount and a ram mount. You can use a basic aux input to get your audio into the stereo, AND you get an iPad that can be used outside of the truck

i don't know of any 'official' or 'genuine' brands, aka, jbl/pioneer/sony/kenwood, etc that carry a sim card slot. it's pretty much a feature relegated to off-brand chinese units...

i second destins suggestion of a sim-equipped device that is then connected to the radio. a few more hoops, but more inherent quality in the components able to be purchased for the purpose.
