I thought I did my research, but maybe not so much. First, I'm old and old school so I thought just an aggressive luggy tread would make it a good tire in snow. Yeah, no. So that's my first complaint about my Ridge Grapplers. I knew they being a hybrids, were going to be louder than an AT. When I got them, they really weren't too bad. I also knew that with wear, they would be getting louder. So that's that.

These tires are wearing ridiculously weird. And yes, I have been rotating them, every oil change. They have about 25,000 miles on them. So like a lot of these hybrids and many AT's, they have the staggered outside lugs. One long and one short. From so weird a$$ reason, the short lug is wearing more than the longer one. I don't know how this is even possible but I measured them and and the short ones are a few millimeters lower than the long ones. Loud as heck now. And when slowing down, you really feel it. They rubble like a tractor tires. And obviously need to be rebalanced. Not wasting my money.

Yeah, probably TMI. Anyway, I want a good AT that's going to be quieter. Have a tread life warranty. Has to be 3 peak mountain rated. I'm having a problem deciding because I don't think, after going where I go with this truck, I super aggressive. I was like most in fact that looks played a part in my first decision. Don't care so much about that anymore.

This is just an example. These are new and unrated so it would be a tough call. Nitto also has a new unrated Terra Grappler G3. Again, just an example. Both have decent tread warranties.

Again, this is just an example of what I'd be willing to put on my Taco.

    Thanks

I have the new Yokohama Geolandar AT4’s. I’ve had them for about 2 months and put around 8,000 miles on them. I love them, would buy them again in a heart beat.

    Have you checked your alignment?

These Coopers were on my F150 back in 2018 during an elk hunt in Colorado. They did fine as an all-around tire. I had about 30,000 miles on the tires when I left and was concerned they wouldn't have enough tread. 5 days after taking these pics the snow melted and this section of road was a muddy mess.

I'm loving mine. Just a smidge louder than stock, and wearing evenly with 10K rotations.
    30PSI, (ish) stock truck.

I am running some MT Baja Boss AT and I think they are kind of loud (to me and my passengers, anyway). Hours on the highway is at times unbearable and everyone who rides with me always asks "Why is this truck so noisy".

Thanks. I did not expect to hear from someone who is running them. As far as the alignment goes. Had the 4 wheel alignment done when I had these installed. Not since though. And won't since I'm definitely getting rid of my current tires.

Umm i would check the alignment especially when new tires are going on. One wrong pot hole and you can through the alignment out enough to matter.
No experience with the new g018 but I have ran the g015, g017 and g003 and can confirm yoko makes a damn good tire. The g015 was an excellent mild at in all conditions the g017 is a bit louder but my set is also studded and they have been great to me in the winters. But only available in an E load last I checked.

Obviously when I pick the new tire, I will be getting a 4 wheel alignment. I'm just not going to bother prior. Thanks

I've been running Falken Wildpeaks. Quiet, good traction, no negative effect on gas mileage. Rotate every 5k miles, have 15k on them so far with minimal wear. Not great on ice, partly because I'm running pizza cutters for snow performance, but nothing short of studs really is.

Can you explain this? The Tacoma has a solid rear axle. Only the front two wheel positions can be adjusted, unless you can shave the centering pins at the rear axle?

Look the Michelin Agilis Cross Climate, I have them on a few company trucks with great results. I'd say look at the Michelin Defenders but I guess they don't know them anymore.

You don't say where you live. Your first comment was about snow so I don't know why you're concentrating on a/t tires. I live where there's snow 6+ months of the year. I have General Grabber ATX and they're ok overall and in snow. I would prefer Falken Wildpeak or Goodyear Wranglers. Alignment is as critical as balancing.

Sorry to hear. I'm on my second set and have ran them hard through every terrain possible. Night and day difference compared to the K02's I used to have.

Roommates through 3 sets on his explorer and loves them. Has yet to have an issue besides 1 flat caused by a screw. That's over the course of 130k
Sometimes shit happens. If you tell me they refused any warranty on a tire within warranty then it's a different discussion.

    Lots of good options above!

Toss in Nokian Outpost nAT aswell for a good AT that performs in winter.
