I was driving in some hellacious rain today, so bad you couldn't see 10 feet in front of you. I think I was doing 30mph on a 60mph road at most. Anyways I got this message on my info screen about "pre-collision sensor disabled, clean immediately". Well, I knew it didn't need cleaning because A) it was raining like hell and B) my truck wasn't dirty at all. I just thought it was funny that the one time pre-collision would come in handy the damn thing didn't work.lol This happened to anyone else?

The manual says not to use it in extreme weather. It will turn itself off when it gets bad enough.

It must have turned itself off, I didn't think I even had it on anyways. The first day I bought the truck I turned all the TSS off or as much of it as I could. I will say that this was extreme weather though so at least I know its limits.

Oh and an orangish yellow light will appear on your dash showing it's disabled btw. Forgot to mention that.

Honestly I think it's all geared toward texters while driving. I don't text when I drive cause I'm listening to podcasts on my phone so it's basically useless to me. Would have come in handy in that bad weather though!

I know it's not winter, but that thing doesn't like snow/ice, either....

Happened to me in heavy rain. It’s also happened to me at dusk too, another time it would be super useful, maybe some glare or something and it couldn’t see.

I used to have a Sequoia with the radar cruise, the cruise would turn off when it was raining

Nope. Eyeball tech minimally effected by rain.

Ok..ok...yes I'm pre TSS guy loving my low(er) tech 2017. I'm secretly jealous about adaptive cruise, but you can have the rest.

Im a Honda tech and it happens to us all the time. Peoples always come in thinking there is a problem when it was just snow/ice, or heavy rain that day.

I find it fickle here in Florida hard summer afternoon rain. Mine doesn't disable but seems to think the driving rain is a accident coming and that damn buzzer and dash warning BRAKE!!! comes up. Scares the crap out of me every time.

The emergency braking saved my bacon one day. It was my fault for not paying attention to someone suddenly braking but the beeps got my attention back to the road and it started to brake. I’m glad i have it, other issues aside.

The GF's Mustang has precollision warning and adaptive cruise and neither of them will work if it's raining heavily enough to obscure the sensor. Put a good coat of Rain-X on your windshield if you haven't already and it will let it keep working for heavier rain, but it still has its limits.

I wonder if a hydrophobic coating on the windshield and the radar garnish will make a difference with this.

Having this stuff assist drivers is one thing. Great concept for competent drivers.

My concern is the (many) drivers that will get more lax because they develop dependency on it.

Another contribution towards a downward skills spiral, personal responsibility and judgement? I hope not.

But someday we'll read it as a courtroom defense.

Yes, I was impaired, but my gee whiz gizmos were supposed to get me home safe. I'm suing manuf. ABC for failure to perform in the rain.
