Want to get a 2nd key made for my truck but i don't want to pay 200+. I was going to order the key off Amazon with the chip and use this guys program. Anyone has had an experience with it?

21 bucks for the key and then just order the programer. What you guys think?

Stock wheels and suspension. Random "utilitarian" mods featured on this great forum.
That seems too cheap; assuming you don't have push start? For push start, an aftermarket fob is ~$100 then programming.

Many people have used Tomskey with success. Not sure about this one.

Not a Toyota, but have used them recently and used the picture method to have them cut it also.

Yea they are not cut. Once you program them you take them to a lock smith and get it cut. At least thats what i saw in the video lol

You might check with your local locksmiths as well. I bought a key, had it cut and programmed for around $75 from my local locksmith. Only took about 10 minutes.

I have a fob and a programmer on order for the wife's 17 each hybrid push 2 start
Heard good things, seems simple enough. Will post up once I get it.

Not sure if u can rent the programmer without purchasing a fob or key from them.

I believe I saw on Tom's website that if you send a good picture of your key, they will cut it before they send it to you.

Have used this myself twice. Haven’t done the pic-cut option, but the blank keys and the programmer are super easy to use and work well. Our Tacomas can have 4 keys total, so 2 in addition to the 2 OEM keys. Had a local Ace hardware cut the keys after they were programmed.

If you don't buy the key from Tom's will he send you the programmer? I would think not. Never used his services, but if it were my business I wouldn't.

A local dealer cut my keys for $15 each, from a dealer I thought that was a good price. Did my own programming with Techstream.

    This and that
Just used toms key. I have an H key. Got one with buttons, and one just a key. Did the photo cut. Programming is easy. Make sure you get the right fcc id.

One of the first items I ordered for the 2009 Tacoma after I brought it home in 2021 was one of the screwed together fob cases from AJT Design (of course I later replaced the second snap together fob case in another order). Tom's Key had key fobs to replace the old ones with snap cases for my other red truck, the 2007 Malibu, that had been dropped just enough to require taping. Adam Turley designs fob cases that provide better support for the CR2032 battery and clip in the Tacoma, and I wish he'd make them for the old Malibu, but Tom's Key had the replacement fob with programmer for older GM vehicles included for about $63. Things are a bit simpler the older the vehicle...

I got some keys from them about 2 years ago. I got a 3rd chip key with remote and a plain chip key. I did not get the photo key thing. I got a hardware store to cut them and used the programer they rent. was pretty easy to do.

I used Tomskey for a second key (push button) on my 21 Tacoma- worked well. I would have no reservations using them again - even for a keyed ignition service.

Hope it works out for you.

Update, received the package and did the programming last nite.
In the box there's a new fob, programmer, bluetooth phone and a cable.
I watch several videos and was still unsure as each had slightly different info and different ways. I did it and it didn't work first 2 attempts but got it on the third. Almost erased my original by mistake but all good in the end .
He gave me $10off to align with his Presidents Day promo.
Sending back the programmer, phone and cable today so I can get my deposit refunded.
SB a little over $200 for the push to start fob after refund.
