Hey all. I'm just curious if anyone has tried using the programmable outputs from the RR2? I'm about to install it with the F511 and will be using one of them to trigger the door locks when the truck is put into D. Share your configs if you want! I'll try to document my steps if anyone is curious.

I am intrigued about this project and plan to follow diligently. I hadn't considered non-stereo functionality for the RR2 outputs.

You've probably seen this, but the guys at Five Star had a video showing using the external outputs. Their setup starts just after 12:00 on this video:

Yeah. I've watched all of the videos about the RR2, which isn't actually much. There's not a lot of resources out there for the actual use of the RR2 in real life.

Are you using the RR2 programmable outputs for anything?

I was just looking at the service manual thread and this makes me wonder - maybe you can get the dealer to turn this on? Look on page 2285:

It looks like this setting is toggleable? I could be wrong.

Once you download the web link for the maestro, depending on what year your taco is . I think it has that year’s default configuration. With my 3rd gen I left everything as is and it has all the steering wheel functions and oem settings .

Yeah. I already have the RR. I'm not new to using it. I created the thread for people who want to use the programmable outputs of the RR2. It has 3 programmable negative output triggers that you can use for various things. In my case, I want to use it to trigger the door locks when in Drive.

brain fart on my part. I realized I was assuming that.

I guess what is the bigger question? How to set it to actuate on drive? Or where to tap into the wiring?

Is that not already in the settings for your 2nd gen ? My 17 automatically does it before I changed everything out.

Haven’t used any of them with my RR2, but I’ve read a decent amount about them. Seems cool, I just can’t figure out anything I want to use them for, and it’s a pain to wire up to the radio vs my switches simply because of access. Cool options though.

Just bought Kenwood headunit (DBX1057XR) for a new 2023 TRD Sport. Should I expect to NOT lose any current functions of the steering wheel, safety features, back up camera? Cructhfield is sending me the headunit and all the stuff that goes with it. Going to have it done at a local (Tampa, FL) shop which kinda scares me a bit!

Did you buy the Maestro RR or RR2? You will need that if you are wanting to keep your factory controls.

RR2 and a bunch of other stuff. I also saw that Maestro does not show that it is set up for a NON/JBL unit 2023 on their website. Guessing from what Crutchfield sent me, they they have adatapted something that will make it work? Does that make since?

The Maestro units do not come pre-flashed. You hook it up to your computer and select which vehicle and options you have. If you are doing it yourself, there are plenty of youtube videos on how to flash the RR/RR2. If a shop is installing everything, I wouldn't worry about it.
