Has anyone successfully adjusted a sagging rear bumper?

I've read a bunch of threads about the rear bumper alignment / fixing sagging bumpers with mixed outcomes. Some say there is some room to adjust, others say just replace it. I know most of the tacos I see on the road have a wonky bumper and mine is no different - when you look at it from the side the bumper is sagging downward. The truck is somewhat new to me so I'm not sure if someone bumped into it or if it was installed like that.

Over the weekend I loosened the 4 bolts on the mounting brackets closest to the bumper and there was no wiggle room whatsoever. It really bugs me and I'd love to get some feedback from anyone who has had success fixing theirs - which bolts need to be loosened to adjust the bumper? Thanks in advance.

I heard.... If you remove the plastic covers, there are a few bolts and shit, to adjust. It's what I was told,, I don't know for sure
Someone hi my truck at my wife work and my bumper is shifted up, at an angle.

I installed my own hitch, which required 'almost' dropping the bumper due to common mounting points.

It took a bit of fiddling around (working by myself) to realign the bumper properly, but using jackstands and a floor jack as extra 'hands' I got it done.

If you know the various adjustments needed, but there is not room in the mounting holes, you may be able to mark those points, remove the bumper and elongate the holes a bit with a grinder, giving some more clearance for adjustment.

Could be the two side popup covers on the step, Might have too give this a shot on the weekend unless someone knows otherwise.

How far off are you (post some pictures if you have them)? Do you have a tow package?

If so, the bumper bolts to the receiver. There should be enough play to make any necessary adjustment at the frame but if there isn't try where the bumper bolts to the receiver.

All you need is a 17mm ratchet and some muscles. Start by loosening the fasteners ( I believe there are 7 on each side if you have the tow package), then once the bolts are backed out enough that the washers spin freely move the bumper as needed and tighten everything back up. It should wiggle around fairly easily with the fasteners loosened but if it doesn't a floor jack will do the trick.

Loosen all the bolts on both sides.the bolt farthest from the bumper that mounts to the frame has some adjustment up, down and forward and back. You will see there is a cutout in the metal to allow fine tuning. The factory bumper also has a centering pin so you will have to pull straight up on the bumper to free it.

Thank you! Loosened all the bolts and it gave me just enough room to straighten it out. Not perfect, but definitely better than it was.

Yeah. There’s not a lot of adjustment there, but a little goes a long way.:thumbsup:

Where exactly is the centering pin? Wasn't really able to see it when i was under the truck. Wondering if I can get more adjustment out of it. Thanks.

I can’t remember exactly, but you can’t get the bumper off the truck without it releasing. If you pull straight up from the bottom of the bumper it will free it and you’ll be able to see what I’m talking about.

Obviously take all the bolts back out first.
I think I remember it being on the passenger side bumper mounting bracket.
