    Greeting all,
I am looking for a tool bed box and saw one that would mount on the rails and be low enough to put a tonneau on top. I saw this one and was wondering if it is any good? Got any recommendations?

I wanted to get one of these but frankly the price was just ridiculous. I bought a Dewalt job box and mounted it on the bed. it's waterproof, secure, and holds everything I wanted it to. I love it and it works phenomenal. if your interested in doing something a little cheaper and don't mind the size I think it's the way to go. if you want let me know and I'll post some pictures.

I think it works great, for me anyway. I bought the box from home depot. It's the large box from the Dewalt stackable sets, I think this is it. It's lockable and has a gasket. Completely waterproof. I placed it right in the middle of the bed and about 1.5 inches from the front of the bed so that the lid can open to about 70 degrees. If you tuck it right back to the wall the best you can get is about 45 degrees. Once it was where I wanted I drilled through the box and bed, one at the front of the Dewalt box and one at the rear. Dropped a bolt and washer in from the top into each hole and then went underneath and added another washer and nylock nut. A wrench on the bolt head in the box with the handle wedged against the side to keep it from spinning allow for one person install and removal. I have since added a plate of aluminum between the bed and box just as a spacer so the box doesn't get all squished down when you tighten the bolts. I don't take it out often, but it is very doable by yourself. The space behind it fit my load bars so they stay out of the way unless I need them. They just come out over the box, really slick. It's not huge, but good enough size that I can fit all this:

    • Crow bar
    • Folding saw
    • Ratchest set
    • Vehicle traction set
    • Compressor
    • Tow strap
    • Fuses
    • Wrenches
    • Ratchet straps
    • Paracord
    • Jumper cables
    • Glow Sticks
    • Pack shovel
    • Climbing grade rigging and Caribeaners
    • Mechanix gloves
    • Scissors
    • Zip ties
    • Electrical tape
    • Clevis's
    • Olfa knife
    • axe sharpener
    • Pliers and other hand tools
    • Track tie down points

Among other things I can't remember right now. Hope that helps. Like I say the only real draw back is the size. I have debated about moving it over and adding a second box but haven't justified doing it yet. The second box would only be for occasional storage, and with just the one I can fit my snow machine skis on either side. Hope that helps!

i have one but haven't installed it yet. i chose it because it's suspended. i want to be able to throw a panel back there without issues. but for now, it sits in my garage. someone said it was for the tundra only and the current offerings validate that. i wouldn't have purchased it w/o verifying fitment, just had a ton going on and can't remember. but i'm guessing they are simply out of stock for the taco currently.

i never installed it... decided a different solution was in order ( Extang Encore tonneau and a Truxedo Expedition bag installed underneath ), and that's perfect. so I've got this bigass toolbox sitting on my garage floor...
