26k is nuts to have to replace the clutch. I just sold my S2k that had 202k miles and the ORIGINAL clutch.

About to replace my clutch at 76k miles and sitting on 37s and metal bumper. I blame myself for burnouts on my 35s lol . I do believe a good wheeling/off-road session can effect the clutch life as well.

looks like I'm gonna go ahead and replace it. I'm replacing everything else including a metal FJ pedal assembly, an all metal 08 LC MC, all the small bits for it to go together, and the URD stg2. I'll plan to have the OE flywheel resurfaced since i don't need the heavy one. trucks gonna be in a hundred pieces in a couple weeks.

Haven't been following this thread for awhile but just by coincidence logged into TW today and saw you commented last night haha
Confirm for me what TOB refers to?
I have been running my URD stage 2 clutch and heavy duty flywheel since stock clutch burnt at 26K miles, and my truck is currently at 30K, so ~4K on the new clutch+flywheel. Still very unhappy with how it drives, still haven't done anything to it since I got it back from the private garage that replaced the clutch and flywheel. Tons of other priorities have come up that prevented me from taking next steps for my clutch issues. Also, my company just laid off a bunch of people thanks to COVID-19 and I was one of them, so I'm downsizing all my bills and therefore leaning hard towards selling my truck and getting a cheaper second gen or something else for a lower monthly payment. If I do get something else, it'll likely be automatic, mainly because MTs are just so tedious to crawl correctly in 4Lo. No more clutch cancel button starts for me haha! Until I sell my truck, I do intend to investigate the clutch system and hydraulics etc, because I'm still not convinced that private garage replaced my clutch and flywheel correctly...or he at least left air in the lines or something, that would explain the weird travel in the clutch pedal. I might even have the stock flywheel re-surfaced and replace the heavy-duty flywheel if that would improve things. Or I might leave the aftermarket flywheel in as it would likely help the truck sell higher as an offroad mod. We'll see.

Lmk any other Qs I can answer about all of this. I want to try to help anyone else that may experience similar situation and finds this thread while Googling.

    TOB is throw out bearing.

The pedal travel is because of the accumulator, remove it and the pedal feel is resolved.

A lot of MT cars / trucks come with some type of accumulator that messes with the clutch feel and engagement. This is said to help newbs learn to drive an MT and reduce shock and wear on the driveline. For anyone that knows how to drive an MT will laugh at this. The last thing anyone needs is system that doesn't follow your commands, is slow, and is inconsistent.

Removing the accumulator will add feel to the clutch, speed engagement when you want to, and allow you to modulate the clutch effectively when you need it, such as when downshifting to 1st while moving.

If you want more feel, faster / direct engagement, and less wear, the ADM is for you.

We've had this discussion. If you're on a HD flywheel and stage 2 clutch with the OEM accumulator still installed, you're gonna hate life. You need the ADM.

What about a leaking slave cylinder? So I'd say no , there other factors besides driver abuse.

Yeah I still want to try this. But I'm worried without the accumulator, the stage 2 clutch and heavy flywheel with immediately engage which would suck for traffic even more. So I need to do the bypass method so I can revert the changes if it sucks. The ADM just hasn't been a priority since I haven't been driving much lately.

For the love of all things good and holy, just do the ADM. It's completely reversible if you don't like it. As someone who drove a MT Tacoma with the heavy flywheel and stage 2 clutch, it actually makes driving in traffic a bit easier and there's less pedal manipulation, in my experience at least. I'm not you and don't know how you drive, but as someone who learned to drive in 1991 in an 87 Supra with MT, the ADM makes the clutch feel like what I grew up on. The clutches today are geared toward drivers that whine and complain because the car isn't doing everything for them.

You and I have had several interactions on TW about the ADM kit. You just need to make a damned decision and stick with it, stop overthinking shit.

Don't know about the newer taco's but i had to replace both clutch's in my 78 wolverine and 84 toyota 4 sp 4x4 trucks around 60k. The wolverine clutch was so cooked it no longer would move the truck.
