Seeing as I've got a second shot at a 3rd gen Taco, I've decided to do the recommended mods I neglected the first time.

First up, AC drain tube extension. Home Depot was out of 1-1 3/8ths adapters so I used a T connect and ran two tubes for maximum condensation flow. :curls:

See? (Why Toyota opted to put this short hose draining straight onto sensor wires, exhaust and steel frame I will never know)

    upload_2021-8-28_14-55-57.jpg

    Probably overkill. Oh well. :notsure:

    Clamped in.

We'll see how it holds up like this. I may just redo it with fuel line or something if I don't like the way this functions.

    Dirty Harry,

Can you describe where you attached the drain hose extension on the drivers side? Can’t seem to locate it on my truck.

Its actually on the passenger side. Once you remove the skirt you have to crane your head up and over the tire to see the tube hanging down from the A/C.

Ok, gotcha. I definitely found and completed that mod.

However I have a drip coming down my drivers side front mudflap. Pretty sure it’s water (visual, physical and taste tested) but can’t yet find its source. Didn’t know if there was another condensation drain on drivers side somewhere?

Uh oh, now I'm a little concerned. Does it seem to happen regardless of weather? You don't think its pooling in there somewhere do you?

Well coincidentally, I just left dealership for 10k service. Asked them to check this drip and they found no source. Suggested it was from condensation from morning dew. As I think about it, I have only noticed it in the morning. I’ll keep a better log/observation for it. It’s definitely water.

How to do the mod, or what? I included a ton of pictures further up. Do you need some help with something specific?

There have been other ways to 'skin a 'Cat" including this thread https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/rust-on-frame-with-a-c-drain-mod-fix.444138/#post-12942289 I'll go this route with 5/8 heater hose after looking for the drip hanging on the end of the hose that was the source of the wet spot on concrete at the rear of the right front door. AC gets a workout on long summer drives... Good time to do this between NHOU frame treatments... The oil is food grade so it wipes off my skin after working under the truck.

I’d say Toyota left it up so high that way dirt doesn’t pack up into it and clog it

I just used a section of garden hose, a few zip ties, and a screen to keep the critters out. Been on for around 13 years with zero issues.
