Joined this group because I've been coming here from time to time reading taking notes throughout the years fixing up my old truck never signed up though until now so hello to all! I'm replacing my harmonic balancer and I just seen after looking for a installer tool that there is a seal after the harmonic balancer is removed but I don't recall seeing any seal after i got it off? Thanks for any help.

Thank you for the help! You don't want to know how far I would have gotten without the info! We'll see if it holds up after I put it all together. Have a good day to whomever helped.

Are you changing the timing chain?

No but in my head it would be a good idea I just can't handle a job like that with what I have in knowledge.

How many miles are on your 2.4? I rebuilt my motor when it had about 220k and the timing chain was still within spec. These 2rz or 3rz motors don't eat timing chains or guides like the ol 22re did

I heard that's about the mileage when people said they changed there timing chain. My trucks got 184,428 miles. Runs decent but then again I've been giving it hell recently. It started out a beautiful truck...

I've personally torn into 3 separate 3rz motors all over 200k. IMO, at 184k I would only check and adjust valves not replace the timing chain.

If you did replace the timing chain don't use an aftermarket brand. They're tolerances are worse and will wear out way quicker. When you look the price of an OEM chain, you'll probably think twice about doing the job:laughing:

Got the correct part today and got everything in line but I can't seem to find the part in proper description that will finish my job maybe somebody can point me to a finish here with this.

Need a tool to stop the pulley from moving so I can tighten the bolt. Don't want to get the wrong product again.
