The Lomax and the MX4 are the 2 most popular options by far. Both are very good quality and are low profile. We recommend either one. If you would like a quote or more info please feel free to message me

I have a Diamondback SE and really like it. Though if I could do it again I’d shell out the extra few dollars for the HD.

For the guys with the Diamondback HD, I currently have a hard trifold cover for my 19 TRD OR. this is good most of the time. I run into trouble when I go on longer hunting/camping trips and I need my canyon 120 qt.cooler. It doesn’t fit under the cover. I end up filling the back seat of my truck with the cooler and anything else that is too tall. I was considering going with a fiberglass cab high topper but I prefer the look of my truck without that. Is it safe to secure my coolers to the top of the cover for a road trip? I feel between that and a hitch hauler I could probably keep everything outside. What are your thoughts? These are expensive items and I hate buying stuff I regret.

Does this cover touch the truck when folded up?

Another happy Lomax customer here. I was able to get a discount ordering from someone on this forum (if you search through the other suggestions, I'm sure you'll come across the same).

I've had it for 2-years. A few quick thoughts:

    • it's not 100% water tight, but keeps most water out. I've used it on several road trips in the rain and it only drips in the corners in a few places. I've never had anything in the bed get noticeably wet.
    • it comes off really quickly -- less than a minute. That was a selling point for me, because I wanted to be able to remove it entirely to haul my bikes.
    • it was easy to install
    • it's pretty tough. I was rear-ended a few months ago and it completely crushed my driver side bedside and tailgate. Somehow, though, the Lomax cover and tracks were completely unharmed. The body shop was able to reinstall it without any issue.
I like the idea of the Bakflip since it has the ability to fold all the way up. But, mine is easy enough to take off that I don't mind not being able to fold all the way up.

I’ve had the HD for a couple of years now and no complaints. Love it! Security is really good especially with the pop & lock for the tailgate.

I'm happy with the Retrax Pro XR https://retrax.com/retraxpro-xr
I have a long bed so the canister that the cover rolls up into isn't as "in the way" as it would be with a short bed.

Any feedback on the BakFlip Mx4, as far as it being somewhat water tight, or is rain going to get in no matter what? Just wanting to make sure the research on current products are up tp date and providing great information
    Thank you

I have a soft roll-up tonneau cover that works well for me. Two things worth your consideration:

I suppose I'd be concerned, if I couldn't use the space effectively under the fold closest to the cab for tall items. One of the designs shown here, @Irons presented the Undercover Flex, looks like a winner from that perspective and possibly another worth consideration. I mounted an OEM "front rail" in the bed of my truck, and have Bed Cleats for it which I purchased off Amazon. For those hard-cover designs that fold down close to the cab, you'd not be able to do something like that.

    Tradeoffs. Considerations...

Thank you @stftaco, am definitely interested in options, just began with the popular result. I like the functionality of the hard tri-fold. My biggest wonder is the weatherproofing, as in the PNW it's wet (ALOT, LOL) and want to make sure that the intended cover is going to keep things dry, and provide some bit of bed protection.
    Thanks for the solid input
