Ok ok. Feel like a big dumb animal. Just changed the oil at 2500 miles and lubed chassis. After adding 5.5 qts oil I dipped to see where it was. One side oil was half way up stick other side was showing 1/4 inch over full. Tried multiple times different readings every time. This is not my first oil change.

    LS1 swap with nitros.
Use a clean paper towel next to the dipstick. We all have this issue unfortunately.

Doesn't work. Rough up your dipstick with some fine grit sandpaper. Worked like a charm for me

How does this get a more accurate reading? I’m not discrediting or anything, and will probably try this, just curious.

measure your input. run and let settle. then mark that level on the stick as normal.

We're all using pretty thin oil and a rougher surface gives it something to better stick to. Just do it. #200 and ur in business.

Well this makes me feel much better. I actually put in 6 full quarts of amsoil and each dip is all over the place. It call for just over 6 so I guess I will call it good. Just unsettling not having a true reading.

Pull the stick....wipe it off.....go have a beer or 2....come back and dip once.... there's your oil level.....
If you want to check it again to be sure.... Repeat above procedure...

It's really way lot easier to just put in the right amount and forget about that freakin' stick...!!

Pretend Toyota removed it like the Tranny stick, cuz they don't trust you to read a dip stick....hehe

New Tacos don't eat oil, so just fill and go..!!

So if my oil was warm and drained let sit for 10-15 min with fill cap off to facilitate draining. Then I added 6 quarts per Toyota this should be correct amount. However all readings are telling me overfull.. however all inconsistent

Fill amount is different depending on whether you change the filter as well or not. If you change it, put some oil in your new filter because you screw it in

I bead blast all of my dipsticks. Sandpaper trick is good too. It definitely gives a better surface to stick to.

Will try the sandpaper. I assume that the way overfull readings are from pulling the stick out and getting oil in the tube.

Yah. Wouldn't do that. I have a manual so pretty hard to mess that up.

Guys....the problem is this..... the oil "wicks" up the dipstick tube...... You cannot change that.! Only thing you can do is remove the stick and let the oil drain back to the pan.......Only then can you check and get a true reading...!!

    Try it guys.... It works.....!!!
