I searched around looking for the best thread, just didn’t see any fitting besides the garden or tool thread.

Where did you buy these? Price range

For homeowner use, just get the straight shaft Echo from HD or Lowe's. $200. Commercial use, you shouldn't have sold one of the Stihl's.

I just made the switch to one of the Ego battery powered trimmer/weed eaters and I love it for residential use. I had two different people stop me walking through Home Depot and tell me they loved their Ego trimmers when they saw i had one in the cart. I grabbed the Ego backpack blower too and So far I love them.

That’s interesting, cordless string trimmer. What volt is it? Price, run time and such?

This is the one that I have. It has more than enough power and run time to do my house/yard. No more fighting the old weed eater to get it started either. :)
I hadn't really considered the battery powered stuff until a coworker told me he switched to the Ryobi stuff and loves the battery powered stuff now.

    https://www.homedepot.com/p/EGO-15-...ttery-and-Charger-Included-ST1502SF/300638783

There are tons of reviews online. I had a gift card that I needed to use and had been looking at the 20volt DeWalt trimmer because I already have some of the tools, but ended up going with Ego. I read a lot of reviews and watched reviews on you tube and found most of them seem to really like the Ego stuff. Im even looking at the chainsaw they sell now too.

Good gas makes all the difference. I used to run regular or even premium gas but it was E10. A few yrs ago I started buying premium ethanol free gas( I have to drive the next county over to get it as its somehow illegal in my county). Now they start on 2 pulls tops, even if I forgot to drain over the winter.

My parents have the ryobi trimmer. I have used it several times when I just don't feel like taking my gas machines over and do the lawn. That thing sucks! So much less power, not much run time, and I find it awkward to use. I am a big fan of the ryobi battery line as I have several of the tools, just not the trimmer.

I used their breaker bars and it does fine. I didn't like their jack or their jack stands.

    :pccoffee: Good morning,
I found a 40v cordless trimmer on harbor freight this morning.

What do y’all think about it?

Interesting. I have been researching/shopping string trimmers this week because my parents built a new house and need one (previously lived in a maintenance-free condo type place). Anyway.....I currently have a Black&Decker 40v that I like mostly, but has recently had an issue with the string self-feed working correctly.

I ended up buying (last night) a Worx wg180 trimmer which is also 40v and has a nice push-button string feed feature.....really good reviews. With online discount and 6 extra new spools of string, it was right around $90 shipped from Worx.com.

So I don’t know.....the HF trimmer is still a bit pricey IMO. Even with a 20% coupon it’s $10-$20 more than other 40v at big box stores. I didn’t compare batteries, though.....the HF has a 2.5ah.....Maybe larger than others come with?

If you buy one, let us know how it works. I may be ditch g my b&d soon.

If it comes from HF and has a battery I'd pass.

Not sure if you are set on electric, but I'd go to Walmart and get one of those $80 straight shaft 2 cycle ones. I have been running one for over 2 years now, just around the house, with no issues. I've since bought a much more expensive one for other attachments, but I still do weed eating with the ole walmart special. Hasn't skipped a beat yet.

i have the dewalt 60v and i would use it over my stihl gas any day of the week unless i was planning on mowing a few acres of hillside. But still 1 battery will run it on death mode speed for 40 min and charge in half that time with the fan charger.

Do you have a picture of the Walmart special? $80 is pretty cheap and my yard isn’t very large. Only had Stihl for our farm days.

I made the mistake of buying the curved shaft to save a few bucks, but it still does just fine. Same engine and whatnot on both. Last time I was there they were clearancing them all out too so you might luck out. I linked the straight shaft below.

Side note on consumer powered lawn equipment, 90% of it is all made by MTD. There are probably still quality differences between the more and less expensive items, but not as much as you would expect.

Any tips for storing it for winter?

    Thanks for the link.
