Oh there will be some mods all right
I will be running them in 265/75/16 on my Tacoma.

Will update with final impressions after winter is over, but as it stands after the testing I did today, the braking and acceleration is decent, but the lateral grip is outstanding.

Really put them through the wringer in the U.P. and they did great

All right, here is my review after running them for one winter. I give them a solid B. The braking was decent, the acceleration was decent, and the lateral grip was pretty good. They were pretty much the cheapest winter tire I could find that was from a name brand. If you are on a budget then they are a no-brainer. That being said if you can stretch your budget a little more then I'm sure there are better options. I do not regret buying them and will run them until they are too worn or until performance degrades. I will not be purchasing them again though unless I get an amazing deal because I would like a little more performance next time. They definitely still performed better than even the best all season or all terrain as dedicated winter tires do.

    Subbed!
    These going on your Taco?
Hankook has a good reputation AFAIK, but I don't have any first hand experience with them. That tread pattern looks nice though!

On my Tundra actually, but I figured I'd still create a thread here in case someone was considering them for their Tacoma. Yeah, the pattern was unlike most snow tires I've seen and my gut told me they'd be good on ice, we'll see if that's true.

I'll be interested to see how well they do. Might consider these for the wife at some point. Y'all get a harder winter than us, so if they're good for you I'm sure they'll be good for us.

As we all know, the price of tires has gone up along with everything else. To make my money go as far as possible I was going to every tire website that I've ever been on before and searching by price lowest first (disregarding the feng shui round rollers and the like) and these happened to be the cheapest. Ended up getting them a tad cheaper than the tundra set were. Funny how things come full circle sometimes.

There’s still a possibility that you sell the truck before you try them :)

Dude, that would be awful if I bought the same winter tires twice just to never use them both times :bananadead:

Those look just like the blizzak's, very soft rubber with lots of siping , great for winter driving but wear fast on dry roads.

I ran the old ipike studded, wasn't too thrilled with overall performance.

These look like a much better base design, so the tread is doing more work.

    Let us know!

I ran the i-Pike RW11s across two Tacomas for six years of use averaging between 4,000-6,000 miles a season and still had plenty of meat left when I let them age out.

They were excellent tires, if a bit loud. I would expect the same from these. That being said, they were not a “never use 4WD” tire but more a “4WD replicates dry ground” tire.

If I didn’t want to see what the Nokian hype was I would have easily considered a second set.

Well, they are mounted up. I had an issue though, one of the four tires required a gargantuan amount of weight to balance and obviously has something wrong with it. I contacted the place I bought them from and confirmed what I already knew, that I would have to jump through a ton of hoops to get a replacement including shipping back the damn tire with no mention of sending one out first so I guess I would just have my vehicle sit in until the replacement came??? Anyway I decided I'm going to use it as the spare and buy one more winter tire and hope it's good. As a spare it'll be fine considering it only starts to shake really bad at illegal speeds otherwise it's manageable. One size up tire definitely looks nicer in the wheel well (though I wish winter tires had cool rugged side walls like all terrains do :D) and having my speedometer on is great as well.

Try taking that one tire to a different shop. Have them unmount the tire, rotate it 180 degrees, then remount and balance.
