Hand sunscreen lotion / other hand lotions ruin car paint: we have permanent fingerprints on our truck's finish simply from touching it with sunscreen lotion on our fingers.

We probably let a few weeks go buy from touching the truck to washing it: surely manufacturers can't expect people to wash their vehicle every day? Because every day is how often we have lotion on their hands and head out to our truck.

None of these have removed the marks:
    Goo gone
    Citri solve
Car wash soap and hot water
Magic eraser (left nice fine scratches though)
    Lighter fluid

Why isn't anyone talking about this online? Tried a general online search (not just on tacoma world) and nothing.

    What can be done?

The oil or whatever in hand lotion or sunscreen lotion becomes embedded in the car paint and makes dull fingermarks.

The finish did have wax on it prior to the lotion exposure, so wax did not prevent this problem.

Sounds like just the kind of stuff you want to be rubbing on and into your skin.

I have trouble believing you can't remove it. You're just using the wrong products - and causing damage doing it. I'd try some mild polish. That would also take care of the marring you induced with the Magic Eraser. Never use one of those on paint.

Glad I came across this thread. Was detailing my girlfriend's horribly neglected '11 Highlander, and noticed fingerprints that wouldn't go away.
I used some Meguiars compound with a harbor freight polishing machine and it took them out.
Finished up with their ultimate synthetic wax.
