$3 in paracord from the Hobby Store (25’ did both sides).

    I followed this YouTube video
    https://youtu.be/bHIc5wz3U6o

All in all about an hour into it. My 8yr old did the other side while I worked on mine. Not sure of the overall length but it was ever so slightly too long for 1/2 of a 25’ roll but looping the ends around the headrest post tightened it up fine.

The 8yr old gave it a try and the handle helped her get into the truck (no steps)

I did the same. It surprisingly gets used quite a bit.

Very cheap and easy diy mod.

Same here after watching kiddos struggle to get up and shredded my man card at the same time. Doesn't bother me; not giving a stinkin' Jeep site money for those .

Mine were made from just straight black. I think paracord comes in just about any color these days. There are lots of different weave designs that can be done as well

Is it safe to put pressure on the headrest bars . I can see it getting bent overtime …not a good thing .

Here are the ones I had made. They are designed so they can get shorter as the kids get taller. This video is from 2018, now the kids are on the last link and should be done with them by next year.

I've had mine in for a couple years, haven't noticed any damage.

    You shouldn't just "see stuff."
Those bars were designed to hold a human head up to 30 g's in a crash
A human head averages around 11 lbs. (Kenematics class 3rd yr)
That equates to 330 lb give or take.
That means one bar will hold 165lb.
Anyone using that grab handle will use one hand to pull and another hand on the seat so roughly 60/40 force split.
    There is no bending force.
Say the child weighs 80 lb. (swag)
That means the child exerts 48 lb max on the handle or 1/3 of the rated load.
    No bend there.

    Looks good OP.

I made these for the outside but I like the idea of the headrests.
