So I noticed today that my driver side Amber halos started to burn out. Not all the way but there are some gaps now. It's hard to tell in the picture, but you can see it in person pretty good.

Only had these on for less than a year and they were wires to my parking lights. I think they are still under warranty, but I dont know if it's worth all the hassle to take the lights off and bake them and reseal them all over again.

As the more of them start going out I think I'll just disconnect them from my parking lights. The headlights still look pretty neat with them mounted to the front in the day so that won't bother me. Just a little dissapointed that some of the bulbs are already going out since these are suppose to last awhile.

Anyway here's the pic below: like I said it is more noticeable in person

To any members who have also had this happen to them what did you guys end up doing?

    Thanks

I got a set of The Retrofit Source white halos and a few months after install they started to burn out. I would say at this point about 10% of the one halo is burnt out and only 1 or 2 leds in the other burnt out. I contacted TRS and they sent me a new set for free after sending them a pic. Kinda pissed cause its not as simple as pop out the old and put in the new. I gotta take apart everything and its a PITA. Prob gonna do it in the spring. I just hope that the new ones dont crap out too otherwise I'm gonna hassle TRS to supply me with new butyl seal for having to rip them apart. While I got them apart I gotta clean up the fog on the lens and touch up the inside. No one seems to notice that I have a few leds that are burnt out but it bothers the crap out of me.

Long story short, get yourself some free replacements while you can and when it starts to get under your skin or they really crap out, you can replace them at your convenience. GL

That's a good point I think I will do that bc like you sad eventually it will bother I bet and at least I'll have a set on hand to replace. GL with yours

I've got the same issue going on, though TRS has done NOTHING to help. At this point I've had the lights for about 8 months and about 30 to 40 percent of the LED's are burnt out in the halos. Total time consuming pain in the ass to fix the issue so I'm more than likely going to pick up some stock housings amd go that route until I can find the time to rip into my retros. That said, finding the motivation to spend so much time on an Un trustworthy product isn't easy. I'm of the mindset that I'll spend the time to fix the issue only to have them fail again..

same :( I put my trust into TRS that I wont get garbage. If I want crap parts then I'll get some cheap Chinese ebay crap and get 10 sets for the same price as one set of TRS. I mean I appreciate that they give me a free replacement but I'm paying TRS a crap load of money for the assurance that my parts wont break not to cover replacements. If my replacements fail, I will either go to crap-bay or some other company like Oracle.

That all said, I am suprised that TRS won''t send you new ones. Take a pic of the shitty halo and proof of purchase and they should send you new ones no questions asked. It says 5 year warranty on the website. GL

Same here. I gave up after splitting my headlights 2 more times. I just disconnected them. I have dual halos in too. I have white on the inside port holes. Those are the ones that burnt out. The outside (of the shroud) are amber and the voltage regulators kept going out. Then the new white ones, one side went out again, that's when I gave up. I got a whole new set of housings, projectors, and halos ready to install by I'm very anxious to do it. It seems the ones inside closest to the heat will burn up more quickly. My Orange ones are still going strong so far though after a couple years and new regulators.

Sorry to hear about some of your guys experience with TRS. They've been helpful with me, but I can see the frustration in having to make many repairs for the prices paid.

That's my concern is spending the time in changing out the halos and hoping the replacement doesn't go out just as fast.

Thanks for all the input so far though.

I think next time I'll just leave the halos off or just take them off my current ones.

I am getting ready to do my retros next week, I'm starting to think I am going to send the halo's back and get my money. Last thing I want to do is to have to tear the lights down after a short period of time to fix halos. You would think they would last longer, I mean they are getting 25K hours pretty easily out of quality LED's now.

I've heard several storied of premature failure so it's definitely not an isolated incident. I just disconnected them for now because they looked like crap with how many LED'S were burnt out. Personally, I'd never use them again

Well I guess i could here, don't wanna thread jack;)
Most don't like the white leds on the bottom, but they are built in to the spyder housing. I could just disable them, but meh, I just left them connected.
And a correction, it's actually tripple halos, with blue demon eyes, heh.
    Oustside- amber led halo
    Inside-white led halo
Stacked inside behind the white led-white ccfls used for 'back-glow" effect.
Again looks much better in person. I liked it at first, but now I kinda think it'd look better all amber. Or just the amber on outside with ccfl inside. the white led halos are just too dang bright to look good with anything else.

    Final look installed

And I found a pic I took that I sent Trs when the white one went out. Which of course they sent me a new pair so they'd match. But yeah, those white ones are now disabled after one side went out again. I'm not even sure if it's the halo itself or the regulator. But I gave up nonetheless.

yeah I plan on disconnecting mine pretty soon as well when I get some time off from work. More of mine are going out on the driver side. Passenger is going strong, but tearing the lights open again is something I don't really want to do after I did it already to fix my fogging issues.

If I do it again I'd just leave them off and go with a passive demon eye mod or something.

The actual lights are fine. It's just the halos for some people that burn out early

    Your options are:
    1) unplug the halo
    2) rip your headlights open and change them

Look into hidplanet.com too and I'm sure you'll find lots of the same stories in there. I planned on doing so to see if there was any tips to get before I attempt my next retro which I have everything for already. Just haven't had the time or patience. Also I'll note that think I actually melted something inside my passenger side headlight. The reflector actually popped loose off one of the pivoting points from the housing after a while. I think this may have been contributed to the fact I had baked my headlights 3 times. Even being careful each time. it's still barely able to be alingned vertically, but it's a bit crooked horizontally. And it's all loose so whenever I hit a bump, or drive down my dirt road, the whole projector kinda rattles around in there, lol. But it still works. That's why I bought the new housings too. So if this next time around doesn't go off without a hitch, I'll be happy. But if something does fail again, I may strip everything out and just do projectors and NO halos. I may use a single led for a demon eye, even after painting the shield, that way if those fail, at least it'll be a passive demon eye. But, if I change my mind and try to stick with it, I plan to reuse my led halos and the new ones, along with the ccfl halos in such a way that if they do fail, I can just disable them and leave them in there. Not sure what I'll do.

^^^Good luck with your new build let me know how it turns out. For now I think I will just unplug and maybe later down the road if I feel like tear them apart to replace the halos again.

Things like this happen and I understand all that I just wish this was a perfect world and the headlights were easy to rip apart without all the other non sense.

In the far distant future after a lift, sliders/steps, wheels and tires I would actually like some FX-R projectors from ambigous. I keep stalking his page.
