    Hi all...
a new issue popped up recently. Half my dash light don't turn on with my parking/headlights. I have RPM and TEMP gauges lighting up just fine...but the speed and gas gauges do not. I've checked the fuse under the hood and its fine...(i think if it were blown all the gauge lights would be out). I haven't done any work in/around the dash or gauges so i'm not sure what it could be.

    any ideas?

i've been planning to replace them all anyway... so the link is perfect. i'll def get those. however. i find it hard to believe the ones on the right side went out at the same time. is there a seperate fuse that controls that side?

also....i'll be replacing them all but i'd also like to replace the rest of the dash lights....like the ones for the AC controls and the cig lighter, etc. are there instructions on how to replace those? i need to be sure to get matching color bulbs from superbrightleds.

    01-04 are a little different than 95-00

If you read both these threads I think you will get all the info you need. I replaced my climate control lights in my 1998 and it was super easy even for a knob like me

    hmmm
i went thru all those posts and links. i dont see instruction on how to remove/replace the AC, cig, etc lights. but its probably not that complicated once you get started. the only prob i have is ordering the replacements. all they specifically talk about are the gauge LED bulb types. i'm still not sure what bulbs i need for the rest.

Pretty sure the dash/instrument lights are 194 and the climate control ones are 74 (I just checked the package of the bulbs I used for my 98)

But if you go to superbrightleds.com and type in 2004 Tacoma, it only lists 194 type for your interior instrument/dash.... so I'd check with someone who knows for 01-04 for sure

I didn't read through those posts but it's the same for my 1998, only your 01-04 bulbs don't pull straight out like mine. There's a little trick to getting yours out, like a twist and pull or something. Thought it was mentioned in those threads.

To get to your climate control bulbs, remove the knobs off the fan speed, temp and directional controls. Then pull the climate control panel off.

(just going off memory, might vary a bit)

One thing to remember is LEDs are pole-sensitive, so you have to put them in a certain way. Test before you put every thing back together

Mine does that some time. All I do it hit the dash right above them with my fist and they come on.

can anyone tell me where i can get stock replacement lights for the dash? the same orange color.

Any auto part store should have them and they are clear bulbs with a cover over the bulbs to make them orange.

    got another Q...
i did the cupholder mod...with lights from radioshack that were supposed to be orange, but look more like yellow. i'm not happy with it. where can i get lights the same color as the orange gauge lights?

the only advantage to the radioshack lights is that they have a good design in that they can be secured in place with a nut on the back side and the bulb is small enough that it doesnt stick out far at all and is not noticeable.

That's how I did mine until recently, but the fix isn't working anymore. Maybe I finally beat the bulbs to death!

My shifter lights are out too.

I'd love to get these things fixed, just as soon as I get new shocks, struts, and tires.
