Trying to decide which HF floor jack I’m going to buy. Does anyone have any experience with these? Try to decide between the heavy duty Dayton 3 ton and the Pittsburgh 3 ton (cheaper, doesn’t go as high)

Ive had the 3 ton Pittsburgh jack for 10 years now and its been, and still is, great. I've had vehicles on it for days at a time and it doesn't drop an inch. It might could stand to be a little taller at full lift but the height has never been an issue for me with a stock height 01 TRD. For the $70 or so I spent on it, it's hard to beat.

I just recently bought a 3ton Pittsburgh one that went on sale. Goes up to 20", Low profile, and rapid pump. Meets my needs. Just make sure you are lifting up at the right places. With the one I got, it only lifts the tire up from the ground about a couple of inches. If I were to do it from the side, it won't even lift the tires at all. I have 33" tires w/ mid/ext travel suspension.

This is the one I have.

It's great. I use it for my Tacoma and my wife's subaru. I put a cut 2x6 on the top of it and then place it under the jack points. I also bought the heavy duty puck that sits on the lift piece of the jack. I suggest getting one.
It's really great. It's HEAVY. It weighs about 70lbs so the wheels help..
You can't use a coupon for the Jacks usually...

This is not a 1st gen specific question...

Buy it if it fits your needs.

You want to invest in two sets of jack stands. One larger one smaller

Keep in mind, their capacity is measured when used as a pair, not each individual stand.

I've had the Pittsburgh 3 ton for a couple years, works as intended and has held up well. Great jack for the money. I do have to use a piece of 2x4 on it to lift the truck up a bit higher, but I believe the low profile Pittsburgh 3 ton lifts a couple in higher than the regular profile one. In hindsight I wish I had spent a little extra for the low profile

    is it made in China?
the floor jack that i inherited from pops is Japan made probably in the 1970s (maybe early 80s)
it really doesn't give me the proper head room needed for safety though, which sucks donkeyD

If you want 24" lift height then you'll have to go with the Daytona, I don't think the Pittsburgh ones go over 20

Just look at the build thread
Go with the Daytona. I dont think a 20" would get my truck off the ground. I know the 24" Daytona doesnt lift it 4" off the ground.

This is my fav. It's pricey, but I think it's the only one with the 3-year warranty! 3-3/4 to 23-1/8 lift, can't beat it with a stick. I used to work in a municipal maint. yard. We had Snap-ons. We bought one of these, and it does go head to head with the Super Truck's. I went home and bought myself one after using the one at work.

I love mine! I had a Pittsburgh one and it sagged about 1/8 - 1/4" every two minutes. The Daytona jack is a clone of Snap On and you can really tell. The thing is bomb proof. It has zerg fittings at all the bushings, is made out of 3/16" and weighs about as much as your rear axle.

Probably just need to bleed the Pittsburgh one, mine started doing that after a couple years but I bled the valve and added a bit of fluid, all good again

It has progressive pistons that enable constant force. If you pump it 10 times with no load, it extends to almost full height. With a load on it and 10 pumps, it goes up about this high:

    20200508_184714.jpg

That hunk of junk made its way to Craigslist and sold for $50 after a full bleed. I assume the pistons were bad.

Was considering both and I went with the Daytona 3 ton for the height. It's been a few years, so if I recall correctly it retails for $180-200. They wouldn't take the 20% off coupon since it was on sale and I believe it was marked $140. Even if you don't get as good or even a deal, I'd say the jack is well worth it.
