    Anyone into old trains?
Trying to get a feel for how much I can get for all these. Allot of them are new in the box from 60s or late 50s I believe.
So my question is are they worth anything and where would I sell them at.

Are you looking to sell as one lot, or would you consider selling some individually? I dont know anything about model trains yet, but I would definitely be interested in some of these as they seem to be of the same time period or possibly a bit earlier than some of the ones I just asked me dad to send me from when I was a kid.

I just unpacked this box tonight. Pretty sure they are also HO scale.

Though I don't know much about current values, since everything seems to be DCC capable, these days, but I do know that in it's day, the Athern and AHM stuff was better quality than most, and that MRC Throttlepack was pretty high end, in the 60's.

There is a market for the HO scale trains. Check out the local train meets. Another good source is the TCA ( Train Collectors Association). I collect O gauge scale and I know from the local meets here is a lot of interest on HO scale. Looks like you have some collectible pieces.

I would definitely be interested in anything that has been run, as I would want to see them run on the track, but for some of the stuff that is more mint, I can appreciate it if you want to sell to those to someone who wants to keep them that way.

Man, blast from the past. I had the same Santa Fe locomotive in my set when I was a kid and I'm old now. It was a hand me down when I got it, so ooolllddd. They're packed away in a box somewhere. I did a quick Ebay search out of curiosity, and it doesn't look like they're worth much. But it could be like an old coin. A penny might be worth 1cent or a jillion bucks for the right one.

If it isn't Lionel then you will need to find the old man who wants to play with the exact stuff he had as a kid.. maybe you have a model train shop or museum in you area that you don't know about. I'd bet there is some sort of convention you can take them to if not. May have to wait til it comes back around. I mess with tiny n scale stuff so it isn't my wheelhouse but the HO stuff is the most popular size in this area. Colorado has a few train stores due to the importance trains did play in the west. Bnsf and UP still run here and in Wyoming the train depot holds events all the time...I'll stop rambling but I suggest you set it up and test it all before you try to get it appraised.

I'd like to sell all of them. I took them out for pictures and packed them in a box,it's sitting in the closet. I'm going around the house getting rid of stuff that hasn't been touched in years and is taking up space.

I put it all on Craigslist and said best offer.
    Im
Sure someone out there will give the trains a home.

No idea on value. I've got a few HO Lionel items. I take them out once a year, play with them for a bit, then put them back in storage.

Seems there's always a demand for Lionel.

This is my favorite site for model trains and supplies.

I have a lot of trains that were my Grandfather’s. I thought about selling of it too but have no idea what they are worth. I was told they are not HO scale. Have the model house and controls too.

One of these is supposed to actually blow smoke. Don’t know how or which one.

Wish I had the room to set it up. I actually collect Hot Wheels and have too many of them and no room.

I'd pack that up with the Christmas ornaments and set it up around the tree every year.

    Those look like O scale.
The two Pennsy loco's might be older 3 rail trains, they look to be metal. If so, they are sought after, helps if they actually run.
The S.P. might be a 2 rail loco, appears to be plastic. Nothing special there.
Hard to tell without seeing the bottom or the track it came with. Both trains will sit on either track but will only run with what they were meant for. The transformer you pictured is for DC operation for 2 rail. 3 rail track is AC powered.
I'd like to see more of that passenger set in the background.

Would 300 dollars be a fair price for all of them?

Do they all work and are they all intact? Really comes down to what you want for them and what someone is willing to pay.
