open up your center console and remove the bottom. put a piece of black string as a handle to lift it up in a hurry.

make a cut out for your piece out of rubber floor mat. (Edit- leave some typical junk on top, i forget to say this earlier)

my truck has been broken into several times. they didn't get my pistol.

back when i was a cop, i got really fking sick of guns being stolen out of cars. people just leave their gun mounted right where a theif knows to look.

at least make the center console space for it, so while you aren't in the truck and you go in somewhere that you can't carry, your gun is ACTUALLY HIDDEN

when i get in my truck, i put my piece on a big magnet that is mounted by my right knee.

when i go to get out, i put it on my hip or in the hidden constructed compartment.

You were a cop and you knowingly leave a firearm unsecured in an unattended vehicle? Wow.

These are no longer made correct? I’d really like a molle panel there but the company that made them is no more. Been looking at a diy one or hacking together something else. Do you still have the installation instructions by chance? Or know how to remove the back of the center console?
I fed that troll pretty hard...

I think you can open carry a firearm in California. I see people open carry in the forest all the time. I’m not sure about the specific rules.

You’re not supposed to plink anywhere, but I see evidence of plinking all over the place. Especially, in areas near the redneck populations in California (el dorado forests/silver creek etc.)

I have camped out there by myself many times without a firearm. However, I have seen some weird stuff, and hear all these stories.

picked up an IWB holster, mounted to the MOLLE panel. I only put the gun there on longer drives, from my on-person holster. Goes with me when I exit the vehicle.

    Oy....

    1. Its NOT legal to open carry in CA except in some circumstances (its a stretch but technically you can open carry "while in the pursuit of wildlife" - hunting or fishing - but you must have a hunting or fishing )

    2. You can plink where legal (BLM Land if conditions are met, Sanctioned outdoor open shooting areas etc).

Ive seen random places with plinking left overs . I don’t think those spots are legal.

might be that I see hunters open carry.

can you at least Conceal carry in the national forests? Federal laws dictate that you can possess a firearm in the forests right?

Ive seen gangsters, weird hill billy individuals, and I’ve even seen strange lights at night. I would just feel better with something to defend myself.

what??? that's definitely not wat i said.
    you must hate cops...

    perhaps i could elaborate.

as a cop, we respond to crime. car break ins are something we respond to almost every day.

these fking people literally just leave guns unattended and not secured in their cars 24/7

theives break into the cars and steal the guns from places that the owner thinks are good, ie under the seat, in-between the seats, in the drivers leg room area, etc.

we show up to take the report and it's the same story every time.

does that make sense? re-read my post

I quoted your post, what you said is plain to read for anyone. You said your were a cop. You said you leave you gun in the center console under the false bottom. Now your say, "theives break into the cars and steal the guns from places that the owner thinks are good, ie under the seat, in-between the seats, in the drivers leg room area, etc." which perfectly describes what you did by making your own "hidden" compartment. o_O

So, besides the vehicle door lock, that weapon is unsecured just like the ones that you claimed to be such a problem when your were a cop. A lawyer could go after you for criminal negligence if that weapon was used to hurt or kill someone later.

If I was a thief looking for something of value in a car and I saw a rope pull handle in the bottom of a storage console, I'd def pull on it and steal that gun.

Good try with the hating cops thing. I don't hate cops, I hate dumb people.

I just installed same panels and love your set up. What holster you working with and do you get movement on offroad. After install I feel like a holster with 2 mounting points would be solid and pervent any unwanted noise.

    2. Which is almost NEVER due to drought conditions and BLM being deliberately sloooow to update after the once in a blue moon rains.
    1. No doubt a retarded idea in CA but thought open carry of long guns was legal? Or did that change recently?

I’d say in the woods use your own judgement. Concealed carry would never be a problem if concealed well enough because you can’t be searched without probable cause.

The holster is from Black Rhino Concealment, https://blackrhinoconcealment.com/ but I swapped out the clip with an Alias mount https://theneomag.com/shop/alias/. One of the better fitting holsters for a P80 frame.

There is a little rattle, since I only have one mounting point. The clip is metal and by design not snug. The mount is solidly in place on the molle, so drawing the firearm isn’t an issue. Depending on your holster you could have 2 clips which would likely reduce any rattle.

Hey thanks for the info, really nice holsters but I'm thinking something with 2 mounting points would be best for the offroad as mine is more for the blair witch encounters. ;) My EDC stays on my and is more of a compact carry. I'm a big fan of the Alias mounts but not sure it's right for what I'm looking.

Maybe something not Kydex - leather or ballistic nylon would do the trick. A condor or voodoo tactical might be something to research

I don’t know if these are still being made or not. The instructions were simple. Just center it and drill 4 holes. The back cover just pops off with a little force.

What’s secured? I think a locked vehicle is secured.

Am I the only one who rests my leg against the center console while driving, especially long drives?

I just unclip the holster from my belt and set it in the center console or door pocket.
