Guam for vacation

I know it’s not on everyone’s list, but Guam is def on mine. I may have the opportunity to visit in the next 6 months or so.

Most importantly, I’m looking possibly for a place to stay/rent a room. Would be for at least one week, could be as long as 2 weeks.
I have base access, so I could possibly stay with someone with housing. I’m already looking into Navy Lodge/Gateway… but I can’t book them until much closer to my travel dates due to retiree status.
If there are decent hotels that are less than base lodging, please let me know! I won’t need ‘tending to’ as I will have a friend temp assigned there, but in barracks, so I’m not able to crash with them. I’ll be off doing all the tourist crap all day and out of your hair.

 

I have never heard of anyone visiting there that wasn’t there on orders. I’ll ask my son-in-law, but he mostly stayed on base.

 

I assure you anyone can visit Guam
Edit. Maybe I’m misunderstanding… Base lodging (hotel/house) is available just like any other hotel. Open to retirees as well.
