I think these came up in the LED headlamp post. I seem to remember they are poorly made chinese copies of the TRD Pro.

    But look for yourself.

They are not new, they have been out over a year. They are Vland lights out of China that have just been relabeled. You can buy direct for a lot less. Performance is poor. I’ll dig up the link.

The GTRs are rebranded Vland reflector lights out of China. If you go to alibaba.com and search "Tacoma LED headlights" you can find them. See post #5147. This member ordered them a while back off of alibaba in post #44. Not surprising they didn't preform well, at all. HR (owners of GTR brand) also made a video showing how great they are, but appears to swapped the base line vehicle for one with worse headlights, see post #5154. OEM will definitely be vastly superior.

Thank you sir. So if I go with the OEM 2021 LED lights, what is the best conversion harness you would recommend? I seen on here that Daveease? (Hope that’s correct spelling) and was going with his but I’m clueless on what is best. I just don’t want issues from a harness. I feel the oem lights will be fine. Not knocking the quality of anything that anyone makes what so ever, just want to be 100% sure the first go round. Thanks again!

I’ve not personally compared the harness from @daveeasa but he takes pride in his work and uses quality components. I’ve not heard any complaints. The harness from TRS on the other hand has had issues in the past.

i have a set of @daveeasa harnesses and they are second to none! He takes pride in his work, it’s obvious in the finished product. I’d much rather have a homemade, WELL made product than some crap being spit out every 15 seconds with some bad quality control. Hit him up, you won’t be sorry.

And that right there is why I love crash so much. He answers questions as truthfully as he possibly can, without bias or any hint of outside influence. A man who simply cannot be bought.

Honestly, a harness is just wire and connectors. Up until recently I ran Mike’s in my own truck on one side. Usually if it works, it works.

But, some have had trouble with the eBay one and some reported trouble with the TRS one. @poe_fosho had trouble with Mike’s and we spent time troubleshooting but I don’t think it was any actual problem with Mike’s specifically.

I’m human and mine are handmade so they can for sure have mistakes. @Unchained 5150 reported some potential trouble with one side of mine. And I definitely had a loose terminal for the first DIR for @manwithtools who was fortunately local so we could swap him out. I’m currently troubleshooting @Zumozuzu7 ’s light pod harness which doesn’t work as intended.

From what I’ve seen, the biggest differentiator between me and everyone else is that I try to pitch in on troubleshooting. @Formidable can vouch for that. I’m not sure how well that will scale but if it’s kept reasonable and respectful I’ll continue to do so because I like to see positive outcomes and one day I might need help from someone else.

I just cut and recrimped mine with the right connector. It's really not hard.

This is also what I think I would prefer, in hindsight. It’s not as crazy as it sounded to me at first. And no extra connector crap.

I don't want to sound like I was poo pooing your hustle, clearly you are doing something right since it is so highly recommended, but yeah, cutting and repinning the wires and not having an adapter was the way I wanted to go. It is fortunate too since when I did it, no adapter harness existed.

I do get the fear of hacking into the wiring on a newer truck, especially one with a warranty. Fortunately I did not have that problem myself.

I’m totally serious about it because the octopus of connectors really messes with me. Water retention and bulk and general sloppiness. And I know my crimps pretty well by now. The only thing which stops me is that I’d have to either leave the capped sidemarker or cut and heat shrink it. Then all the spare grounds. So I’m mildly tempted to convert to 12 position MX-150 with a bunch of spare grounds and then do a custom 12-6 feeder. But that just seems silly. And there are technically 11 wires (4x2 + 1x3) so I’m not sure how to best plug the 12th spot.

So, yeah, at least I can tell myself I have a mobile test rig.

Man, lol, I just cut the wires then matched the colors to the schematic haha. But yeah, like half the wires are grounds too.

Got a set of @daveeasa harnesses to run 2020 led headlights in my 2017. Literally plug and play. And Dave ended up helping out with some clutch trouble shooting due to the prior owner having installed some resistors for the turn signals. Highly recommended.

OP, I did something like that before. Never buy knockoff or underpriced headlights. I've learned my lesson before. I have Morimoto XB LED Headlights now and I couldn't be happier
