My buddy just got some racing buckets in his 2018 GT86, and he had a set of the oem buckets laying around. I got em for $200 and a few beers, so I’m gonna toss them in my 3g. Ordering the planted seat brackets tomorrow, will update the thread when they come in.

Agreed. I will modify the brackets so the seats sit a little higher than stock. With that and the added bolstering these should be super comfortable.

Just wondering if the airbags and connections will be compatible.

Yes they will. Driver side is “plug and play”, passenger side needs a resistor until I can figure out the wiring for it.

My previous DD was a 2013 FRS and I have to say my wife and I both loved those seats.

Test fitted the seats before the brackets came in. They’re super comfortable even without the raised bracket, would totally suggest this to anyone unsatisfied with the OEM seats.

Bolsters are great. Fit about like Recaro SRDs (I think that’s the right model)

So far I think I’ve got it about figured out, here’s a step by step.
    1. remove seats from taco
    2. Remove black wires from both seats, yellow wires don’t need to be touched
Transfer black wires and seatbelt buckle from the stock seat to the 86 seat
    3. There’s a weird little black box that one wire goes to, remove that with a torx bit and leave it on the wiring.
    4. Install lhttps://www.plantedtechnology.com/p...ta-tacoma-3rd-generation-2016-passenger-right
    4. Put GT86 seat onto the bracket, plug in all wires.
honestly that’s about it and you’re good to go. Passenger side is apparently a little finicky on 2nd gen’s, not sure about ours. Will update the thread when my brackets come in.

Looks good so far. Keep us updated on the final product. Reminds me of the 80's trucks sport seats. Lots of bolster, and a good amount of bucket. Maybe they had heated versions of these?

The improvement in comfort over the stock seats is insane. I may have to weld the bracket to sit a tiny bit higher but I’m pretty tall so I don’t really need to. Would definitely recommend doing this.

yes, my brz has heated seats. heated gt86/fr-s seats came mostly in the special-edition trims. the standard toyota model was the same as the brz premium. brz limited comes standard with heated mirrors, and seats.

but they don't work all that well. my tacoma's heated seats work way better. there's suspicion that subaru insisted on a thermal limit switch that stays far too low

So these straight wire right up? What's your height? I'm 6'3 and if it's that simple I'm bout to order a seat!

No. OP provided a link to a planted seat bracket you will need to purchase in order for the seats to “bolt in”

Yes it plugs right in, but I still have an airbag light which I’m gonna figure out this weekend. It’s a simple fix and I’ll keep you updated.
I’m also 6’3 and I fit super well. They do sit a little bit low so I’m gonna buy some front and rear seat jackers, but I’d have no problem driving it as is.

seat is fully in, 0 airbag lights, no issues. Only trouble it gave me was the rivets on the 86 seat rails.
