Currently have a group 24 AGM battery that I got from advanced auto parts for my Moab trip and want to know what everyone recommends for a group 27 AGM battery being the 24 was all that was available at the time to install. Don't want to spend a ton of money but at the same time quality is what I am looking for. Have looked at the odyssey batteries and as well as some full throttle batteries those are a little out of my price range but wanting to see what others are running.

Group 24 AGM is fine. Group 27 size will just give a bit more reserve capacity. Depends how you use the truck whether you actually need it. Group 24 is nice because they are lighter which can help prevent cracking of inner fender parts that can sometimes happen. Group 27 while heavier can be nice if you have lots of accessories or do lots of winching.

EnerSys is a big company that owns Northstar, X2 Power, and Odyssey brands now. All good options. Full Throttle? Seem good, not sure it's worth the price premium. Some people still run Optima batteries and that fine if you like them but I'm not a fan, my opinion is quality went way down after Johnson Controls sold off/spun off the battery side to Clarios. Either way any AGM will probably serve you better than lead acid in most scenarios.

AGM batteries are great, I use a single 27 in my truck, running a fridge and camp gadgets. Never left me stranded.

But regardless of brand, deep-cycling these batteries causes them to wear out quickly. Regular replacement should be part of your strategy, if you are relying on it to crank the engine in remote places after running equipment all night. Among the AGM batteries, I think having a newer battery is more important than buying a specific brand.

I look forward to a cost effective, reliable primary lithium battery. But I suspect the next stepping stone for me will be a lithium camp battery to augment a lighter 24 lead acid primary. Something that could kick in one or two kWh at say 10 amps tops during the night. Separating the need for deep cycle capacity from that of cranking and winching allows one to leverage the strengths of each battery type.

I'll also mention that last time I checked, there was a cheaper line of AGM batteries sold on Rock Auto. 'Full River' if I recall. Haven't run them, but I would consider them.

BUCKLE UP! It makes it harder for Aliens to pull you out of your Truck.
I ran an Anal Zone AGM in my truck for 8 years, no problem.

I shoehorned a group 31 Odyssey Extreme AGM battery in mine when I did the 250a alternator and dual e-fan conversion.

I run the X2Power 27F. I love it. Especially when I go on my camping trips with no running water or power.
