Pack some 2x4’s you can lay down in your tire’s path if you have to drive over something. It’s what most people do.

Is it a hybrid? Post 20 in this thread explains it. Bigger rear diff on the hybrids.

Thanks!! Stock wheels and tires? It looks pretty darn close… or do you call that 9 and 3/8”?

All stock. It’s 9. Bottom of diff comes right to the 9” mark. But I’m all for adding on an extra 3/8 when measuring most things.

So let me get this straight, I had a 2022 Tacoma TRD PRO with 9.4” of clearance out of the box. I put 265/75/16s (32s) on it and got that figure up to near 10”…

Then I buy a trillion dollar Trail Hunter which is supposed to be a halo model, with 33” tires out of the box, and it’s got 9” of ground clearance? So I have to put 35” tires on it to get the same clearance I had before with 32s? Got it Toyota.. that’s super disappointing..

Does it at least have better running clearance???? My old 3G was stolen so I can’t compare.

No wonder Toyota doesn’t include the clearance specs anywhere like they did on the 3G.

Isn’t the trope supposed to be guys driving the midsize trucks aren’t concerned with fractions of inches or something?

but really we have a larger axle than 3rd gen by about an inch so the housing hangs down and extra half inch, and your diff skid plate adds a half inch. But that plate is probably best left on and the added power of your hybrid will be able to slide over whatever gets hung up on it.

also you forgot to subtract another inch or so log clearance if you’re airing down for some crawling!

Helpful answer. And makes sense. I’ll probably get 285/70/18s (34”) and call it a day. Should fit without any mods.

    Don't forget the longer wheelbase.
