I know the second gen had one behind the passenger seat but I haven't been able to find anything on the 3rd gen. I've got a scanner antenna that I've installed and need to finish the wiring, but I'd like to go about connecting it up without drilling.

    Anyone have experience with this?

My 2nd gen has a grommet right next to the driver seat. Really easy to get to, just removed the long plastic piece at the bottom of your door frame(what is it called, btw?) and just lifted the carpet. I imagine 3rd gen would be the same

I'd be curious as to how you do this (pics please!) I'm planning to do a similar thing on mine

Found a photo in another thread here.

Round black grommet at the bottom center. There is some yellow tape on the outside. I unwrapped it, fed the wire and wrapped it again real good with electrical tape. Did not have to poke any holes.

Thanks for digging that up - anyone know if this is true for 3rd gen? I'd hate to get that far into it to find out it's only on 05-15 models.

All you have to do is pop the plastic cover and lift the carpet a little bit to get to it. Takes 30 seconds

Not the same for 3rd gen. There's a similar one like that on the passenger side below the passenger seat outboard of the frame. It's also a lot smaller than 2nd gen pass through grommet. I don't think you will be able to get the antenna cable through there without a lot of lube.

Thanks Hirod - I went exploring and all I have to show for it is a few broken clips. I'll check into this tomorrow.

There is a rubber grommet in the passenger side rear floor board just to the rear of the seat bolt for the front seat.

As you can see in the pic below, the grommet is just above the frame on the passenger side.

Cut a slit in the grommet and only make the hole just big enough so that what ever size cable you put through it that it still takes a little force to get it through the hole and you will know it is not too big of a hole.

    Grommet.jpg

Removing the passenger seat bolts makes it easier to raise up the carpet on the side. Depending on where you route your cable from there will depend on if you need to remove both seats, carpet etc.

There are several other grommets to choose from but this was the biggest grommet that I found and it is the easiest to get to without removing seats etc.

There is a grommet behind the driver's seat on the back "seat" floor -- I have used this several times, easy to access. I then followed the inside of the frame to the rear. Third gen, access cab.
