Okay, I know propane is more popular than charcoal, but I was wondering if that is the same with Tacoma owners. I cook with both (75% of the time propane, 25% of the time charcoal). Hank Hill is my hero, but I have to admit that charcoal has a good taste to it.

The only good thing about propane is it is easy.

If you care about taste, charcoal all day long! Even better than charcoal is real wood like oak/cherry/apricot.

I prefer charcoal but own propane because it's quick and easy to start up.

100% charcoal. Have the weber that starts the coals using gas, then I shut the gas off once the coals are started. Makes grilling with charcoal extremely easy and not much more time involved than straight propane.

100% charcoal. After my parents grill blew up in my face one time, I'll never use gas again.

Hate to admit that the gas grill is cooking today. Used the charcoal all last weekend though (this time because camping). When cooking chicken or fish, I like to pour a little water or beer on it from time to time. When using charcoal, it stirs up the ashes and adds a little more flavor. Shame convenience usually wins over taste.

Too poor to list anything interesting.
I cook with charcoal (non-matchlight/instant light). I'll use propane for brewing beer ;)

I've always avoided lump charcoal. Does it have any advantages over briquettes?

The fiance and I were having a talk about this the other night. We talked about what grill we are getting for the house; I said charcoal and she said propane.

I don't mind the propane but if I can avoid it, I will. It just tastes bland and boring. I told her, "sorry I like flavor in my food."

    First of many disagreements :D

Charcoal adds taste, but Propane is just so easy. If I had all the time in the world, charcoal, but now days i use propane most of the time.
