just because he washed his car doesnt mean the car wash melted his car. The front grill melting is documented, I posted several threads of this happening all due to the sun.

Plastic begins to melt at over 200 degrees, so unless the car wash is using jet engines to dry, their not doing it. As for chemicals, there is no way a chemical would melt only the plastic on the grill and mirrors and not any of the other plastic, weather stripping, tires, or paint on the rest of the car.

This isn't. I'm wondering if maybe the car wash accelerated the paint wrinkling after the plastic was melted, but yeah the car wash isn't the root cause, at most a contributor.

That said - go check out reddit /r/autodetailing it's crazy. I can see if it's like, a nice car taking care of the paint but people will spend hours detailing Versas and crap like that. But the consensus there is that the normal car washes that send your car down a tunnel, there's a bunch of grit and stuff on the pads and rollers that just causes paint "damage".

Now. I do stupid shit and send my truck through trails and am covered in pinstripes already, so the whirlygigs in the car wash are the LEAST of my worries. But if you care about paint, the whirlygig car washes are absolutely a terrible place to go.

Maybe it's from driving so fast the air friction is melting the front. Maybe need heat resistant nose cone.

I believe the sun and a nearby building are to blame.

While the building may be "greener" by reflecting all that sunlight, your vehicle will pay the price...
I am waiting for insurers to revise policy that, "Parking within 1 mile of a glass building voids your comprehensive coverage" and for building owners to post signs on the perimeter of their parking lots to read, "Not responsible for any solar damage"

Stay off-road, and you should be fiine.

A famous Hotel in Las Vegas has a serious design flaw that has been causing reflective solar damage
. Guests have been receiving severe sun burns and landscaping including trees have been burned

The building has a slight concave shape and with its reflective glass panels and windows has turned the Hotel into a giant magnifying glass

I’m in the “not the car wash” camp on this one. I also do the unlimited wash thing at a place near me during the winter. Get the truck washed 3-4 times a month to wash off the salt and road debris.

Did the same thing with my last truck that I owned for about 7 years. The car wash has never damaged a single part on any of my vehicles.

The reflection doesn't have to be from a large glass building, a single window on his house or a next door neighbors will be cause enough.

The car wash has 3 of theses “open flame” gas heaters blowing directly at the cars at the very end of the wash.
    https://solaronicsusa.com/overhead-door-heater-doorjet/

I park in front of my apartment building. Had the car all through December and January with no problems. It wasn’t until I got an unlimited wash (end of January-end of February) that this started.
The window thing would be an option, but the melting is consistent all around the the top and top sides of the grill and in the exact same spots on both mirrors. When the sun hits windows it will create a perfect line as it moves. The melting on the truck is in very specific places that show a consistent melt coming from a slightly downward consistent burn.

Find out if other people in your area are having the same issue. Shouldn’t be too difficult with social media being a thing. I’d venture to guess you wouldn’t be the only one with this issue if it is truly the car wash blowers causing this issue. Gather intel and assess what you wanna do then.
