Hello, I’m a new member and saw a thread on a gooseneck hitch install. I’m finding that a lot of trailer places won’t work on a composite bed( understandable) but it’s for a 19’ 3000 pound fiberglass trailer so it’s not heavy and I’ve seen done. I’m trying to get done on my 2005 Tacoma and wanting to see if someone knows a place close to to northern ca.? Thanks in advance.

just gettin it done....................just gettin down the hi-way

with a composite bed.............sure it can be done

UNtil the 1st Issue or accident

Ur taco can easily tow 3k trailer of frame/bumper hitch.....................Iv never seen a hitch ‘ Goose Neck ‘

2 plates would have to Sandwich the bed for strength

still im NOT sure in extreme situations it would be safe

Yes. It can be done. Although you don’t need it to pull. 3000lb trailer. It should be a frame mounted goose neck hitch which means they’ll cut out a section of the bed. To frame mount in the middle over the axle.

Just do it yourself. It took me 3 hours, 6 pack, a couple cuts and F bombs.

If you can use basic hand tools, a drill with a 4” hole saw, and a tape measure…good to go.

Do not use the plate style hitches unless it goes into the frame.

Weld the underbid hitch rails to the frame. If you have a hideaball there is only the need to cut a hole for the ball in the bed and drill 4 holes for the chain anchors. I have pics of the gooseneck we installed in my 2005. About to do the same for the 2019 I just acquired. IMG_8886.jpg
