So lately I've noticed if I invoke Google Maps and put in a location as soon
as it gives me some direction ( like... turn left in 2 miles ) then Spotify will
turn on and start playing tunes.

I'm old and don't think as well as I used to so I don't want both things happening.

Previously I'd just 'stop' whatever Spotify was playing and be done with it -
Google Maps would continue to direct me via the speakers and everything was groovy.

But now, regardless of stopping Spotify, whenever some direction is given then Spotify
will start up again annoying the hell out of me. So I stop the song. Then another direction
is given and Spotify starts up again.

I've been to all the 'settings' and all of the 'linkings' are already turned off -

Anybody had this issue that can resolve it?

That's a weird one. I wonder when the navigation audio stops it resumes whatever app was last playing audio.

What's your phone model and what version of the operating system are you running?

    This

Might need to update the phone

Also, could try a different phone (friend, spouse, etc) and see if it has the same issue

    Weird issue for sure

Might even try uninstalling Spotify and see if the issue persists

Agree with others. If Google Maps is being accessed from your phone, and you have also used Spotify to play music (from your phone - at any point) it's likely just reactivating it, which is expected. If it does it again, check your phone to see if the Spotify app is open. If it is, close it. That should stop it from playing until you open it again or select it from Car Play or Android Auto (whichever you're using) on your Taco's stereo.

Hope that helps. If not post back with more details when you can.

P.S. Thought I was the only one saying "groovy" anymore.

IT 101… did you ever reboot the phone?

Update will do that, but another troubleshooting step is a reboot

I have had some weird issues with Spotify that could only be fixed by uninstalling/reinstalling the app. It can be buggy at times.

Similar issues came up a few times here. Check battery settings for spotify under apps on you phone(background activity)

I don't even have the option within Spotify to turn this off...
Per a recent web post this is how to do it, but I don't have this option.

I don't have Spotify. Is your screenshot from an Android or iPhone (OP has an iPhone)?

I am the OP. This image was taken online describing how to turn off auto-play.
My Spotify ( latest version ) doesn't even have this option.
    Wondered if others had it.

Oh... well, duh, of course you are. :anonymous:

I get it now. So that's a screenshot of the settings for the Spotify App on an iPhone? Interesting. Not sure what to tell you about that.

I was just suggesting that if/when it happens again to open your phone and see if your Spotify App is on/playing and if so, swipe it closed. That's how the Pandora App and iTunes works on our iPhones. But if either were playing when I shut the truck off, it'll automatically start playing again when I start it up the next time. That's how it's supposed to work and I'd assume the Spotify App works the same way. Hopefully someone with the Spotify iPhone App will chime in.

Yea even if I stop the song, close it, it will still re-start after the next set of directions are given.
The issue for me is, this option isn't even available for me. Not sure if it was if it would correct it but I'd like to try it.
It happens even if I start the truck and spotify is closed at that time. It just turns on.

Well, that is interesting... and annoying. I'm not sure about the settings, but I think the earlier advice to delete the app, perform a hard reboot on your phone (quick press of the left/volume up top button then the left/volume down bottom button, then hold the right/power button until you see the Apple logo), reinstall the app, hard reboot again, may resolve it. I'm outta ideas otherwise. Best of luck and let us know how it goes!

Yea I did some of that - downloaded the latest update to the phone which of course booted it.
Gonna check the wife's phone to see if her Spotify has that option available. If it does I may just reinstall it.
I'll check with my kid first - he has taken over the duties of being the resident I.T. expert... LOL

iPhone7? What version of Spotify are you running? 8.8.62 is the most current
    Spotify>settings>about
Edit: So in my Spotify that option is “autoplay similar content …play something similar when what you’re listening to ends” so I’m not sure it would help with your issue
