My Goodyear Wrangler AT 2020 OEM, tires are 2 years old with 28K miles. They are starting to squeal on most turns and activate traction control on the slightest hill from a stop. Still have about 20% treadlife. Anyone else have this experience and what did you replace them with. Seems like they haven't lasted as long as they should. Did I get a bad batch of rubber?

Most all OEM tires suck. I got 25k out of my stock Toyos and they were near dangerous in the wet toward the end. Both meatier AT tires that I have used since have been better in all conditions including dry handling at the limit.

Don't sweat it. You got enough life out of them, and the more enjoyable tires that you use next will get about 50k.

BTW, we had some 'good,' non-OEM Dunlops many years ago that we near dangerous in the dry with 50% of the tread left.

for my daily driver 2019 TRD offroad, I went with the yokohama geolandar G015 AT. 2nd set I have bought, best all-around tire for a daily or non-offroader in my opinion/experience.

Treadwear (and amount of new factory tread) was poor with my Goodyears. What was worse was the consistent hydroplaning I experienced with just a small amount of water on the road. I replaced mine @ 25K with Bridgestone Dueler A/T REVO 3. I like those a lot.

nah they just suck IMO. I've got ridge grapps with 30k miles on mine, at least 50% tread left. Favorite tires yet.

Thanks. non of those tires were on my radar. I was thinking the Wildpeaks or Toyos but will check those other options out.

Goodyears are generally nothing to write home about. They're smoother than the Toyo's the SR's come with but they're just okay at best. I yanked mine off @ 800 miles.

The Wildpeaks are great tires, but not worth prices that they are at these days. I paid $135 in 2019. That or a bit more is fair. $200+. Nope.

I have Nokian Outpost ATs now. They're pretty good, but I have only had them 2mo.

Also look at the Cooper Rugged Treks.

My stock Wranglers where just about pooched at 20,000Km. Noticeably worn visually, and grip on gravel roads or wet asphalt was reduced. They seem to be made of very soft, almost foamy feeling rubber. I have excellent experience with Good Year tires, but these OEM ones where certainly built cheaper. Not a ton of tread to begin with. If you drive a lot of gravel roads or trails with these tires, they won’t hold up for long. Currently saving for Duratracs.

Go with a cooper tire, they seem to be the best with this truck. :hattip:

You’re gonna pay $200+ for any good AT Tire now that’s not on sale

I believe the stock tires are just to be used while you decide which tires you really want

Redline custom leather shift and e-brake boot. VFTUNE Super Full Otto cycle, octane learning, premium fuel.
Michelin LTX M/S2 for the win.

Why buy a AT tire when we spend 95-99 percent of the time on paved roads.

If you are dedicated to offroading every few days AT makes some sense at the cost of life, stopping distance in rain, and noise.

    Just my 2 cents.

I tend to agree with you, but would say that about MT tires. ATs can be tame (Nokian Outpost or Geolandar G051) to pretty meaty (Rugged Trek). Pretty big spectrum.

You are right though. My offroads days have been way too few lately.

I replaced the factory Goodyear's on my '21 recently at 20K miles. They were around 1/2 tread, but with the way I drive traction was suffering a little bit. I replaced them with a set of Cooper Discoverer AT3 4s. They were priced right at $780 installed tax and all. I will however say they don't ride as good and the sipes do not go all the way through the tread, so half life traction will suffer greatly, so be warned if you are looking into this tire. However traction now is excellent. Do really well in the rain and I expect the same in the snow. Will just have to budget for new tires in 20-25K miles...

Got a little over 18k miles on my goodyear adventure w/kevlar AT tires. Appear 1/2 worn. So far no complaints, they've been decent in mud, and on snow....not so much when sliding on ice.:(

Just went through this. Got 24,000 miles on my stock 2021 wranglers. I was having the same issues as you, and was ready for a beefier tire. Had about 6/32 left. Have been looking at all the different AT tires out there, and just had Goodyear ultraterrains put on yesterday. Discount tire had a great Labor Day sale-
So far only a couple hundred miles on them, but for a MUCH beefier tire they’re actually quieter than the oem and feel better on the road as well-
