Missing My Last Tacoma --- Had 11 Toyota trucks in the past and many other Toyota cars too.
...^^^... Years ago, I used to live in Quebec for work and had to travel to Northern Quebec. One morning we were getting into a buddies Civic (-35) and the vinyl interior and dash cracked. The coldest I remember wayyy up north was (-44). FWIW, at -40, F and C are the same.

Oh the big problem some people had at work with frozen headlights on dark cars when the sun was out and temp was still around Zero. The bright sun during the day would go through the snow and heat the dark paint around the hidden headlights. About 1500 when the sun went down , the headlights would freeze into a solid block of ice by 1700 hours = no headlights. Black or dark colored Firebirds and Corvettes were the worst.

Started up, brushed off the snow, scraped windows, drive away.. leave your blanket in the house where it belongs.

And in very TacomaWorld fashion, charging in with an opinion waaaaaay stronger than the topic warrants. Fun.

Before my Tacoma, I had an older Explorer and the doors would always freeze shut when we got snow and/or freezing rain. I didn't have remote start to defrost it from the outside. I ended up getting a windshield cover for it off Amazon. It was one of the silver ones that cover the side mirrors too and was fairly cheap. It actually worked really well. The doors always opened in the front and the windshield stayed clear. The snow and ice came off of the cover pretty easy and I just threw the cover in the back when I went to work, and put it back on once I got there.

My neighbors have some time of windshield cover. In the time it takes for them to set up at night and then remove in the morning, I'd have mine cleared already with a good old brush and scraper.

I use one where I live. Amazon brand. Nothing fancy. It’s okay. The snow/ice ends up on the hood when you remove it. So you have to brush the hood before driving away. But I’d rather do that vs scrape at my windshield with a high amount of ice build up or a bunch of snow. Using a space heater sounds like a bad thing waiting to happen…..:bananadead:

My wife is from Michigan and she said she would use a beach towel.

I’m from Colorado and there’s nothing that won’t get blasted away by the wind there.

Dayum if I had that much snow I’d built an extra garage or buy a snowmobile

At the risk of sounding like a smartarse, the best windshield cover is a garage.

Shy of that, any cover I’ve tried before was a pain in the butt.

This might be what you are looking for. At $20 it might be worth a try.

Im retired now……but is years past. None of the covers worked very well. Not in Indiana, Montana, Alaska or Kansas.

Yeah they don’t work great, better than nothing kinda thing. I use the wiper blades to help hold them down. Garage works best

Okay disclaimer…I live in the Seattle area so heavy snows only come every few years. The rest of the time it’s heavy freeze, freezing rain, or light snow. When the big ones hit, they are a hassle, because we are near sea level and the snow will start to melt and then refreeze at night or when it starts snowing again. Now it is no longer powder but one giant “it’s time to defrost the freezer again” ice cube. Because of this you can’t brush it and scraping is a pain in the…I’ve owned a frost blocker for 5 years. Bought it at Costco. It works well. Has mirror covers too. It’s never blown away and never not kept the windshield less than 80% clean. The other 20% is because of the moisture left on the back after I roll it up and throw it in the back seat. Plus when camping it makes a nice privacy screen.

Another vote for the frostblocker from Costco. Have had mine for a couple years and no regerts!
