Looking for a good automotive fire extinguisher that would fit under the backseat? Just something I can put in the under seat compartment and not worry about it unless it is needed.

Anyone here carry fire extinguishers under their backseat?

Just a thought but placing the fire extinguisher there under the back seat may take longer to access in the event of a emergency

My ideal location would be just in front of the drivers seat mounted onto the floor

There is a product called the Bracketeer, shown in the picture. Allows you to mount a 2 or 2.5 pound extinguisher forward of, or behind, the front seat rails. I bought a Halotron extinguisher because it doesn't make a mess of the engine bay.

The seat is pushed back to its rearmost position to show the mounting details. In practice the extinguisher does not interfere with the passenger's foot space.

You want the extinguisher to be accessible in seconds, you don't want to be flipping up seats and opening compartments.

Any problem with putting the fire extinguisher upright behind the rear seat (driver side). There is an area there that looks like one would fit nicely. Up against the back cab wall under the corner of the rear window. I normally keep my rear seats folded down, so access would be as easy as opening the rear door (driver side).

Have you tried any of their mounts with your Tacoma? I may try their magnetic mount, but not sure where I'd install it.

Looking at all the 2.5lb ones at that Kidde site. What's the different between them all? I was looking at the $25 white one and the $32 red one..looks like the red one has a farther range..is that all?

I have this. Mine is an access cab and it fit really nice under the seat, if you have a 4 door I definitely think it will fit. It also comes with the mount that is just 2 screws and is pretty firm

Not sure what difference the color makes. The main thing I was told to take note of is the class. Whether its safe for electrical fires or chemical fires (or both) or if its only safe for wood/paper fires.
