    Hello!

    New guy here.

I have a 2011 4.0L double cab with 88,000k that I just picked up from a family member. The fog lights don't currently work and they never knew it. I tested the bulbs and they work (hooked them directly to the battery with alligator clips) and the 15A fuse under the hood is good. What should I check next? Figured I would ask here before I start tearing into it. Maybe a bad switch? Hoping not because its a stupid $100 to replace....a switch.

    Thanks.

    Is the FOG relay installed?

Do you have the headlights on when you're testing? The fogs won't get power unless the headlights are on. They also turn off when you hit the high beams.

Welcome to the forum. If you have good bulbs and good fuses, next thing to check is the relay in the fuse box under the hood.

I took the fog light bulbs out completely and hooked them to the battery. So I know the bulbs work.

Thanks! I guess the next question is how to do check relay. Does it just pull out and can observe something then?

Locate the fog light relay, have someone turn the fog lights on and off while you have a finger on the relay, if there is cliicking from the relay you know the switch works, swap the relay with another from the fuse box that you know works and see if the fog lights work with the known good relay.

Make sure the headlight LOW beams are on, not the HIGH beams.

My comment had nothing to do with your fog light bulbs. It had to do with the conditions that need to be met to get power to your fog lights. If you don't trouble shoot your problem correctly, you run the risk of wasting lots of time and money. Always check the simple stuff first.

Oh gotcha. Yes, I had the headlights on when checking to see if the fogs worked. Thanks.

Need to check pins 1 and 5 of the FR FOG Relay for power with the headlights on low beam and Pin 2 for ground with the Fog Light Switch on.

Sooo I checked the relay and had no click or anything. I then thought maybe I needed a new switch, so I ordered one. When I went to pop out the old switch I discovered that it WAS NEVER HOOKED UP THE HARNESS IN THE FIRST PLACE!!!! I plugged it back in and the fogs work just fine. So I guess I get to return a switch now. Thanks for the help ya'll. Never would have guessed that the stupid switch was just not hooked up.
