    I recently got new/longer rear shocks curtesy of the @ARCHIVE shock tower relocation brackets (worth every penny) and now it is time to rebuild my fronts. After reaching out to a local guy who would get it done in 2 days, I got quoted $750 for the fronts. Am I delusional to think it would be a little over half that price ?!

    That sounds about right, assuming that price includes the bushings, pieces that will be replaced, oil, et al.

    Labor is expensive these days. Parts are expensive. The correct servicing tools are expensive (mostly the nitrogen tank/regulator/filling needles), etc.

    It was expensive 30 years ago to rebuild boutique shocks. Sure it is still expensive.

    Possibly cheaper than buying new ones. :)

    I’ve got 15,000 on my kings, they are all corroded due to multiple road salt winters, but they still seem to be solid. TBQH, I don’t know for sure how to determine if they need to be rebuilt. There’s a good chance I might notice a rapid decline in performance, but so likely a slow decline. I guess I’ll wait for signs of an obvious leak.

    Jeez. I need to open a shock rebuilding shop. Last time I did mine, not counting taking them off, was maybe an hour two of work.

    I want some fox or kings, but hearing about frequent rebuilds scares me. For me, 50k is frequent. I understand that they are peak performers. But how can a billy 6112 last 100k and these can’t?

    Annual is a guideline I've been exposed to by many shops. YMMV.
    But yes, they are purposed designed to take abuse and dish out performance.
    Because of this they require schedule maintenance. ICON is the same way.

    Lol there is a difference between bombing a thousand miles through Baja versus a thousand miles on the interstate.
    Very very few need the upper tier shocks and willingly accept the maintenance fees. The ones that bitch are the 'gram crowd for coolness factor that do not need more than a Monroe.
