Has anybody come up with a nice solution to the lack of a glove box light on our trucks?

    Thanks

Yup! Flashlight. (Sorry, could not resist)
What I'd really like is a glovebox lock. I'd have paid the extra $5 when I purchased the truck.

You could add a glove box light if you want :p

I can’t tell you how much stuff I’ve lost in my very large glove box.

Seems ridiculous that these trick don’t have a glove box light. I was hoping someone had a kit.

I have them. Still would like a dedicated glove box light. So does my wife.

Do people use their glovebox that much that they need a light?

Not sure if theres a proper kit, but it’d be easy to wire a simple bulb - you could rig it to the domelights or give it its own power, ground, and switch. Plenty of power sources to leech off of under the dash

Careful what you probe, of course

Tap into wire #17 on connector IK2 (Behind Front Passenger's Kick Panel), get the console LED, the magnetic switch...and have an illuminated glove box. (when you open & have TAILS selected)
P.S. The Tundra and 4Runner have it like drawing.

Thanks, I used this today to wire in a glove box light. Still can't believe my 1988 4Runner has one, but my 2019 Tacoma doesn't.

I used a push button switch where one of the rubber bumpers had been previously.

My 2000 Ford Ranger did not come with a glove box light or a locking glove box. But, I discovered that previous years of the same truck did have those features. (Manufacturers always seem to be eliminating features as a cost saving measure.) So, I scored these on a trip to the junkyard, and installed them myself.

I'm wondering if the same pattern holds with the Tacoma. Check out not only previous Tacomas, but also 4Runners, etc.

Are we talking bed lighting or actual glove box lighting? I have to ask as perhaps I don’t have the upgraded glove box because, well all I can actually fit into mine is perhaps an actual pair of gloves.

Between the manuals, a couple handtools like a pair of pliers and a screwdriver and maybe a small flashlight and some napkins my glove box is pretty chock full and I can pretty much see what I need to see with just putting the map light(s) or domelight on.
