Howdy, saw this black beauty and wanted to create a similar look for my 22 sr5Screenshot 2024-01-17 at 11.06.04 AM.png

Ive got a set of toyota steelies in the basement with center cap but theyre 5 spoke and really dont fit the look Screenshot 2024-01-17 at 11.24.31 AM.png

then I saw a set with the center cap painted blackScreenshot 2024-01-17 at 11.27.09 AM.png

    getting closer...

I had some FJ steelies and they had a smaller more appropriate center cap but the rim pattern doesnt quite work, I was thinking about painted the rim silver and keeping the center cap black.Screenshot 2024-01-17 at 11.42.29 AM.png

Have you guys any ideas on creating a 1994 tacoma look with a 2022 sr5?

    Thanks

There have been a few attempts. Search "retro" and check the boxes for "search title only" and "in this thread only" in the 3rd gen forum.

I liked them on my 90 truck.. and they look mean as hell on my 2009 with the 285/70 16

oh and with a good amount of time with a sanding drum you can clearance the center cap for those to fit over the wheel. cant remember if they had the tabs for the oem smaller center caps. from the SR5 wheels i have.

didn’t wanna be that guy but it’s a huge pet peeve of mine. They were considered pickups until 95. That’s when they were called “Tacomas”

Looking to do something similar with my SR. I can’t find any 3rd Gen tail lights with the old amber-over-red color scheme. Maybe someone at Toyota has an extra pair from the 2016 BTTF program that they could send me?

A lady in town drives a cherry '93 Pickup just like the one I once had. This thing is without a blemish.
Must park it in the garage out of the hot-sun as the paint is still original. Probably has original tires on it LOL...

didn't have to make my newer MY IFS Tacoma look like an IFS truck/Tacoma
as that is what it is

if I was looking for a 95 truck
    I'd get a 95 truck

sounds like something that could be done by putting a clear lens on
    and painting it

My dad has an '81 sitting on his property in eastern AZ. It's been sitting for years, I don't even know the condition it's in as far as frame and interior but if it's not too far gone it would be a good project truck .

My first Toyota truck was an '81 4x4. Black with the black and chrome package. Bought it new. Lifted it and put 33x12.50's on it. Man it was a good looking truck. And fun to drive.

I’ll probably get crap for this, but you might paint the center of the front center caps red. Don’t try to make them look slotted like you don’t have auto vacuum hubs or whatever, but the red is a nice signature callback. Still remember a HS friend had a truck like that (red twisties and all) and we went “off roading” through local muddy trails the one day it rained that year here in SoCal. Had to get out and lock them ourselves. Then, months later, he couldn’t make payments anymore, sold it, bought a used Accord and moved to Washington.

I think I paid $7,600 for my 93 Pickup Truck in Sacramento. Manual Transmission and no A/C, didn't need A/C in the bay-area it was always cool there.

I put 199,999 miles on it and never had an issue with it. Changed plugs and oil now and then and that's all I did. I believe it's still running.

My 86 with chrome wheels. Toughest truck I ever owned. Had it 18 yrs and 212k miles. Wish I'd kept it just for a hunting/work truck.
